October Beauty Box 5 – Effortless Allure
I just got the email that my Beauty Box 5 shipped yesterday and I already got it today! Woo Hoo!
October’s theme is “Effortless Allure”. Inside my box: Chapstick Hydration Lock (double headed Chapstick – one for day and one for night); Bellapierre Cosmetics Cheek and Lip Stain in “Pink” (Creative name?); Extend Your Beauty Cosmetic Tool (it’s a skinny little spatula to get that last bit of product out of your bottles – I LOVE THIS!); Nanacoco Nail Polish in “Illusionist” (Violet shimmer- yay!); and Lashem Picture Perfect Instant Wrinkle Reducer.
One of the things I like about Beauty Box 5 is that it seems that I am pretty much guaranteed to get a nail polish every month. That might annoy some folks, but not me!
Halloween is Coming…
I didn’t mean to buy a bunch of Halloween stuff yesterday…but it kind of just happens sometimes.
Somehow, I scammed my husband into letting me run into Ulta before lunch, so I could grab some more Zoya Remove+. (I kind of freak out a little bit if I have less than half a bottle left, plus I didn’t know if the new ad would still have a $3.50 coupon.) After lunch, we all went to Five Below. In addition to Pink Flamingo Duck Tape, I couldn’t resist more Funky Fingers! I got 2 of the 2/$5 Halloween Glow in the Dark polishes: “Oogie Boogie” – iridescent yellow glitter in a neon green base – and “Dia De Muertos” – matte pink glitter in a baby blue base. I also got 3 of the regular 3/$5 Funky Fingers – “Unicorn Farts” – chunky metallic multicolored glitter, “Olaf” – white snowflake glitter – and “Elsa” – white and blue snowflake glitter. (Yes, I bought Frozen nail polish. Suck it.) Everybody got goodies. I got a SHENANIGANS T-shirt for my BFF. My husband got spiderwebs to decorate the house and a football. Logan got a gag gum snapper. Lily got a rubber chicken. Seriously…a rubber chicken. I can’t even explain why.
Five Below and Half Price Books were just too much fun for the family to handle, so while everyone else took naps, I went to Target to buy toilet paper and paper towels. Yeah, that was my plan when I went in there…
In addition to stocking up on John Frieda and Olay, I came across the new Halloween Beauty Books from e.l.f. ($6!) I picked up “Vampire” for my BFF, because the colors will be perfect for her Cruella DeVille costumes. I got “Wicked” for my Maleficent costume. I also grabbed bunch of plastic totes for my hair and face gunk – all of my tiny bottles where overtaking my husband’s side of the sink.
Of course, I got the new Caramel Apple Oreos. They’re just as weird as you would expect them to be. They did not have the Pumpkin Spice Oreos, which is probably all for the better…
August Ipsy Bag – Beauty Schooled
I received my Birchbox and Ipsy Bag on Thursday and I was just overwhelmed with goodies, so I’m just now getting around to posting my Ipsy…
August’s bag theme is “Beauty Schooled” and came with a cute barrel-shaped bag. The Urban Decay Perversion Mascara saved this bag – the rest of the contents are just so-so: Glamglow Youthmud Tingleexfoliate Treatment (they sure do like making compound words); Jersey Shore Sun “Mongongo” Lip Conditioner (I was confused until I looked at the tube and it explained – Mandarin Orange Ginger…It smells awesome – I’ve been using it before I go to bed); Lord & Berry Silk Kajal Kohl Eye Pencil (Used this yesterday and it did a GREAT smoky eye) ; and Manna Kadar Cosmetics Sheer Glo (I have no idea what to do with this product).
I tried the Perversion Mascara…it’s good, but no better than half the mascaras I own. It didn’t clump and it was black – that’s about it.

True Red from True Blood
Nothing like coming from from a trip to a fun surprise in your mailbox!
Last Sunday was the final season premiere of True Blood. I wasn’t overly excited about it…until I saw the 3 hour special that Zoya posted as the premiere started – free bottle of “Sooki” – bright, clean, crisp cool cherry red cream with a subtle jelly finish – with any $10….AND free shipping.
I finally had a chance to try one of Zoya’s Pixie Dust polishes! I chose “Dahlia” – black beauty with a sugared sparkle. I’m guessing it might be somewhat similar to my tar ball nails?
There were also some other goodies in my envelope: a sample of Lemongrass Ginger Lotion, a Zoya Summer Color Chart and an acrylic sample tray of their summer collections – “Tickled” and “Bubbly”.
Red Marker Sale
After harassing my husband about the mail for the past week, I finally received my spoils from the Julep “Red Marker Sale”, back on June 12th. Dozens of polishes for $2-$4, plus a bunch of other random junk – makeup, jewelry, phone cases, etc.
I controlled myself and only got 6 polishes: “Dahlia” from “The Rebel Set” Boho Glam October 2013 box – goldenrod microglitter; “Annemarie” from “The Boudoir Collection” It Girl January 2014 box – warm cocoa crème; “Kimberly” a Boho Glam from the “Speckled for Spring” Mystery Box – lavender with black specks; “Zoe”, a Boho Glam, but I cannot figure out which collection – smoky burnt umber metallic, “Sabrina” from the “Simply Bewitching” Classic with a Twist October 2012 box – zesty orange shimmer crackle; and “Shoshanna” from “The Glitterati Collection” It Girl box – full-coverage yellow holographic glitter. Phew!
I also got Pout Plumping Lip Gloss in “Arousal” – neutral, rosy-brown with pink pearl – $4.
All this for $16, NO SHIT!
