April 2022 Ipsy Bag – Keep Growing

April’s bag is the cutest in a long while – covered with delicate daisies, it’s also made out of recycled materials. Way to keep plastic out of landfills, ipsy!

I have been SO busy this month that I’ve barely gotten to try any of the products in this month’s bag. I HAVE tried the Complex Culture Fresh Start Eyeshadow Palette – it’s a perfect neutral shadow quad, but with a little sparkle. The shadows are very blendable and vivid – highly recommend. I also tried out the fragrance – Nanette Le0ore “Enchanted Flora” and it is STRONG. My husband said it was old lady smelling, but not bad. I feel like this is what I would use to hide the fact that I was sneaking a cigarette behind the school, if indeed I did that type of thing…which I don’t.

Also in this month’s bag: Context Skin Nude Balm in “Back for More” (Why haven’t I tried this? I’ve been balming it up lately); Dionis Goat Milk Body Lotion in “White Jasmine & Shea”; and Honey Jarret Rose Clay Purifying Mask (this was my product choice this month and I haven’t even had a chance to try it).

Nice bag this month!

Body Talk

Context Skin Lacquer “Body Talk” came in last month’s ipsy bag. At first glance, I thought that the polish was a light mauve…but it’s a nude! It’s a cool-toned nude, but a nude nonetheless. Do I need bifocals???

This is two coats of “Body Talk” over Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat and under Glisten & Glow Top Coat. I did get a few bubbles in the top coat – I think it’s time to stop refilling this bottle and open a new one – it’s getting too thick and drying too quickly.

May 2021 Ipsy Bag – Flower Power

Ooooh…May’s ipsy bag is a pretty peony pattern! Peony is one of my favorite scents.

My product choice this month was Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask. I tried it out yesterday and my skin LOVED it.

Also in May’s “Flower Power” bag: Context Skin Nail Lacquer in “Body Talk” (is this mauve?); Formula 10.0.6 One Smooth Operator Pore Clearing Face Scrub (I used a few nights ago – I feel like it took FOREVER to rinse off); Saint Luxe Lip Liner Duo in “Moscato” and “Vino”; and Skin&Co Roma Citrus Amaro Hand Cream.

Now that I’m down to just ONE beauty subscription – Ipsy – I signed up for Glam Bag X, which is a quarterly, curated box for $55…we’ll see if it’s any good in August.

The Morning After

Context Skin Nail Lacquer “The Morning After” was included in my November ipsy bag. It’s an inky blue/black…very sophisticated.

This is two coats of “The Morning After” over Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat and under Glisten & Glow Top Coat. The polish was a bit sheer, but came through with almost full coverage in two coats. I was surprised at how long this polish lasted. Usually dark polishes chip fast, but this one really clung to my little fingers.

This blue-black reminds me of Wonder Woman. Not Wonder Woman in the movies or TV show, but Wonder Woman in the comic books. Her hair was always highlighted in blue, which confused me as child.

November 2020 Ipsy Bag – Be Present

November’s product choice hit it OUT OF THE PARK. I chose Anastasia Beverly Hills Matte Lipstick Mini in “Dead Roses” and this is now my signature color! I swore that I would never go back to regular lipsticks after experiencing liquid lipsticks…but this lipstick applied like a dream and stayed put all day – even under a mask! It did get all over the inside of the mask, but that’s kind of unavoidable.

I sprayed on Commodity Gold and it was a very musky vanilla fragrance. It was alright, but I feel like I got a major headache after wearing it. I knew I had received a sample of it a few years ago…and it turns out that I HATED it. Ha.

Also in this month’s “Be Present” bag: Context Skin Nail Lacquer in “The Morning After”; Item Beauty Lid Glaze in “Desert Weekend”; and Lasting Smiles Vanilla Bean Blended Beverage Organic Lip Balm.

This month’s bag was a great selection of products – keep it up, ipsy!

Slow Down

This is it – I’ve found the perfect polish to match Kat Von D “Lolita” – my favorite shade of lipstick. (It’s even better than Sinful Colors “Vacation Time”.) This is Context Skin “Slow Down”, from this month’s ipsy bag.

“Slow Down” is a chestnut mauve creme. This is two coats over Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat. It was smooth and self leveling, and the brush was great. I topped my thumb and ring finger with Glisten & Glow Matte Top Coat and the rest with Glisten & Glow Top Coat. This polish is so drastically different with the two top coats – I love it both ways – and I cannot decide which one is better!

Do you like how it perfectly matches the brick on my house?

“Slow Down” will be my new go-to shade for my toes – I cannot wait to try it out after my next pedicure!

April 2020 Ipsy Bag – Full Bloom

April’s ipsy bag is super bitchin’! I love the big wooden ring on the zipper and the soft lavender flowers.

For this month’s product choice, I selected Oryza Beauty Foiler Alert – Metallic Eye Shadow in “Rosé”. I have not tried it yet – maybe for my next video conference? I also haven’t tried the Araceli Beauty Ojos Perfectos Gel Pencil Eyeliner in “Black/Negro”.

I have been able to try the rest of the products in this month’s bag. I used the Ahava 24K Gold Mineral Mus Mask over the weekend. Even though it didn’t clear my pores as well as traditional mud masks, it made my skin so soft and glowing.

I’ve also been using the MURAD Nutrient-Charged Water Gel as my go-to moisturizer – it smells WONDERFUL. I’d actually pay for this one.

Stay tuned to see Context Skin Nail Lacquer in “Slow Down”.

June 2019 Allure Beauty Box – Refresher Course

Ooooh, now this neon green pouch – I can get behind this beauty of a bag! It’s all slimy inside though – because the Floss My New Favorite Lip Gloss leaked all inside of it. It leaked right through the cardboard box it was in and slimed everything in the bag. Jeez.

June’s theme is “Refresher Course” and includes products that are intended to get you out the door quicker. So, you know I am nuts about eyebrow pencils. I grabbed the one included in the box as soon as I opened it last week – The Browgal Eyebrow Pencil – and holy shit, I have used it EVERY SINGLE DAY. This is a BOMB eyebrow pencil. Even though I get annoyed by the kind of pencils you have to sharpen, this one has a sharpener in the LID – genius! The only con – The Browgal is not sold at Ulta or Sephora, but I can go online – https://thebrowgal.com/. Oooh, and I can use code ALLURE19 for 10% off my order.

Also in this month’s box: Moroccanoil Treatment (I just got this in December’s Sephora Play!); Eau Thermale Avene Thermal Spring Water (eye roll); Context Vitamin C All Day Eye Cream; and SGX NYC The Do-It-All 3-in-1 Dry Shampoo (ugh, more of this shit).

If it wasn’t for that eyebrow pencil, I’d be pissed off about this box. I don’t regularly use ANY of the other product types!

The Allure Beauty Box is $15/month, but they give you $5 off your first box. They also offer an option for $150/year – a savings of $30. Sign up via my referral link.
