Wine with Ice, Garcon

This polish looks almost as black as my heart…which is pretty black.

The polish isn’t black though – it’s a deep, deep wine. Pretty Woman “Wine with Ice, Garcon” was in my ipsy bag this month. Now, I don’t drink wine – I have a reaction – but I am pretty sure you never, ever, EVER put ice in it. Fairly sure.

This is two coats of “Wine with Ice, Garcon” over Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat and under Glisten & Glow Top Coat.

This polish looked FANTABULOUS with “Triggered”, one of my new Jeffree lippies.

November 2018 Ipsy Bag – Happy Friendsgiving

Oh hey, it’s glam bag time!

So, I’m not positive from the insert what this month’s theme is…and their website doesn’t make it any clearer, so I’m going with “Happy Friendsgiving”. The bag is pretty cute – you cannot tell from the picture, but the inside is lined with hot pink nylon.

This month’s bag is an odd assortment of products: Doucce Punk Volumizer Mascara; Pistache Skincare Whipped Pistachio Body Butter (it smells like pistachio pudding – I love it – I left it on the coffee table to use, but my kids better keep their paws off it); Pretty Woman Nail Polish in “Wine with Ice, Garcon” (I don’t even drink wine); Ciate London Mini Translucent Setting Powder in “Hideout”; and theBalm Cosmetics Nude Beach Eyeshadow in “Brave”.

Like I said, the products don’t seem to go together this month, but they each seem great individually.

Girl Boss

A post shared by Lara (@knobbygirl) on

This polish is called “Girl Boss”, but I don’t feel particularly “Boss” while wearing it.

This soft, demure polish is Pretty Woman “Girl Boss”, from April’s ipsy bag. It’s a nude dusty rose, with a hint of lavender. The color itself is fine, but the formula was horrible. I started with Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat and then two coats of “Girl Boss”. The first coat was streaky. The second coat…still streaky. There was little I could do to get coverage in some spots (see my ring finger). The bald spots just stayed bald. Fuck it, I topped it with Glisten & Glow Top Coat.

This is the second Pretty Woman polish that ipsy has sent me – the first, “I Can’t Deal”, was from my January 2017 ipsy bag and I had MUCH better results – not streaky and better coverage. The main difference was the base coat – maybe the polish doesn’t like the Glisten & Glow?

April 2018 Ipsy Bag – Social Butterfly

A post shared by Lara (@knobbygirl) on

LOOK at this month’s ipsy bag – rose gold butterflies! I’m dead.

The Pretty Woman Nail Polish in “Girl Boss” was the first product that caught my eye – it’s a dusty rose that matches the bag. Also in this month’s bag: Firma Beauty Angled Blender Brush; Ciate London Starstruck Double-Ended Stamp Liquid Liner (well, if I want to look like Kat Von D); Bubble T Cosmetics Lemongrass & Green Tea Stimulating Hand Cream; and Hempz Herbal Lip Balm (tee hee – hemp).

A solid bag, if a bit on the hippy side.

Pavement

I wasn’t joking – as soon as I saw this polish, I had to try it.

This is Pretty Woman “I Can’t Deal” from this month’s ipsy bag. It’s a medium grey cream, the color of a freshly poured parking lot – no one’s parked in it yet and there are no oil stains.

I started with Sinful Colors Base Coat and got full coverage in just one coat. I went ahead and did two coats – just to be safe. The polish was super shiny on it’s own, but I finished with “HK Girl” – again, just to be safe. Safe from what – I do not know…but being safe seems really important to me right now.

January Ipsy Bag – Metropolis

A photo posted by Lara (@knobbygirl) on

“Metropolis” is January’s futuristic city theme. Did Superman create this beauty bag for Lois Lane?

The first product that drew my attention was the Pretty Woman Nail Polish in “I Can’t Deal” – it’s a pavement grey cream. So weird – I don’t own any polishes like this at all. Also in this month’s bag: Beaute Basics Contour Blush Brush; Trust Fund Beauty Lipgasm Lipgloss in “Blame Game” (I hope it lives up to it’s name); Naked Cosmetics Mica Pigment in “Desert Sunset #02″ (I got a similar shade in last February’s bag) and Jelly Pong Pong Lip Scrub in “Coffee + Coconut” (looking forward to seeing if this scrub rescues my abused lips).

A very odd bag, but I’ll use most of the items.
