March Beauty Box 5 – Make Room to Bloom
“Make Room to Bloom” – sure, why not?
This month’s Beauty Box 5 is full of pastels and flowery things: Colour Me “Sky Blue” Fragrance (very strong Freesia scent – reminds me of a stronger version of Bath & Body Works Freesia); Mai Couture Blush & Highlighter Papiers (this is DUMB – tinted paper you rub on your cheeks); Pur~lisse Blue Lotus 4-in-1 Eye Adore Serum (full size is $65 – really?); Glamour Dolls Eye Shadow Duo in “Secret Weapon” (shimmery nude and copper shades); Personail Custom Floral Nail Polish Wraps (very Easter-y); and a bonus temporary tattoo – a rose.
Not a bad box…but some weird stuff, for sure.
August Beauty Box 5 – Primped
Life is like Beauty Box 5 – you never know what you’re gonna get.
August’s theme is “Primped” – and it is an odd, but cool grab bag of products: Donnamax Printed Nail File with Case (very cute – it says, “hey did you just hashtag me?”); Starlooks Luxe Longwear Eyeliner Pen in “Plum”; HASK Beauty Monoi Coconut Oil Nourishing Deep Conditioner (to match the shampoo/conditioner and oil I’ve recently received?); Jerome Alexander Hot Stuff Go Pop Compact (a bright yellow compact with 3 shadows – in colors I would actually use – golds and browns, 3 glosses + applicators); and Pur~lisse Pur~Moist Hydra-Balance Moisturizer.

Beauty Box 5 – Summer Night Out
I might actually use every single thing in my Beauty Box 5 this month!
Inside this month’s “Summer Night Out” box: OFRA Lip Gloss in “Truffle”; OFRA Lip Liner in “Spicy”; Nanacoco Nail Polish in “Orange Wonderland” (it’s really more sparkly/rusty); Love Life Skin Restorative Night Cream and Intensive Recovery Serum (2 foil packets each); and Pur~lisse Flash tattoos (I’m about to get another REAL tattoo, so maybe I’ll use these on my wrists?). I also got codes for 20% at purlisse.com and 25% off at lovelifeskincare.com.
Now I just need to plan a Summer Night Out!
July Ipsy Bag – Summer Lovin’
Summer lovin’, happened so fast…Can you believe that summer is already half over?
“Summer Lovin'” is also Ipsy’s July theme. The bag is a bit ugly – I’ll just add it to the pile. There’s some good stuff inside that ugly bag though: Nudestix Magnetic Eye Color in “Gilt” (waterproof and comes with a cool sharpener); Crown Brush Professional Tweezers (the second pair of tweezers I’ve received recently); City Color Cosmetics HD Powder (I’m excited to try this one); Jor’el Parker “Classico” eau de parfum (interesting scent, but isn’t Jo’rel Superman’s dad?); and pūr~lisse pur-bright ultra skin brightening serum (sure, why not?).
I had redeemed my ipsy points for a J. Cat Beauty lip stain, but it didn’t make into this bag – I guess I’ll be getting it next month?

March Ipsy Bag – Floral Fantasy
I love coming back from being out of town and finding a big stack of packages – I got a Victoria’s Secret order and my ipsy bag!
March’s bag is “Floral Fantasy”. The bag is a bright Hawaiian-like floral print, full of fun stuff like NYX Butter Lipstick in “Hunk”; pūr~lisse beauty pūr~delicate gentle soymilk cleanser & makeup remover (I’m just glad it’s not another moisturizer); Boo-Boo Cover-Up in “Medium”; Dr. Brandt Skincare pores no more anti-aging mattifying lotion (I have high hopes for this one!); and VINTAGE by Jessica Liebeskind Illuminating Face Highlighter in “Crystal Pink” (is “illuminating highlighter” the new “primer”?)
I usually don’t like skin heavy bags, but I am getting to like them more and more.

September Beauty Box 5 – Balancing Act
My BFF and I felt like we weren’t just getting enough samples in the mail, so we both signed up for Beauty Box 5! It’s $12/month, $30/quarter or $99/year for 5 beauty product samples. I signed up for the 3 month pricing, because I wanted to check it out first. My BFF signed up first and gave me a code to get the August box free!
September’s theme is “Balancing Act”. I received a Nicka K New York Eyelight Crayon in “Violet”; 2 foil packs of Natural Style by FUBU Deep Conditioner & Co-Wash; Sally Hansen Toe Spacer (Ugh, another pair); a bottle of My Beauty Spot Nail Polish (color not labelled, so I’ll call it Gunmetal?); and Revlon Bold Lacquer Mascara in “Blackest Black” (plus a $1 off coupon).
August’s theme was “Radiant and Remarkable” I received yet another Pur~lisse “Pur Protect SPF 30”; La Fresh Travel Lite Facial Cleansing Wipes; Nancoco Lip Gloss in “First Kiss” (SO DAMN PINK); a foil pack of Novex Brazilian Keratin; and a bottle of Style Essentials Nail Polish (again, no name on this one – white and aqua glitter).
Although there are a few Dollar Store Brands (Style Essentials, La Fresh, My Beauty Spot for sure) in the boxes, I am not freaking out yet. I’m pretty annoyed by polishes without names – what the fuck is up with that? I’ll give it a few more months and see what else pops into the box. Ipsy and Birchbox have me spoiled!

Ipsy came last this month…So slow!
“Sensationally Sunkissed” is July’s theme. I am NOT a sun worshiper, so this month’s bag isn’t quite as exciting for me as previous months. This month’s bag is bright ass hot pink vinyl with scalloped edges – very cute.
Inside this month’s bag: Elizabeth Mott Tints & Sass in “Cherry” (another lip and cheek stain); bareMinerals 5-in-1 BB Advanced Performance Cream Eyeshadow Broad Spectrum SPF 15 (SPF in eye shadow…odd); POP Beauty Sunkissed Bronzer in “Secret Sunshine” (maybe I can use it as blush); Faith Aromatherapy “Citrus-Ginger” Anti-Oxidant Body Lotion (smells so good); and Pur~lisse pur~protect essential daily moisturizer spf 30 (I totally used up the last Pur~lisse I got).

May Ipsy Bag – Fresh Picks
I got my Ipsy and Birchbox on the same day!
This month’s theme is “Fresh Picks”. The May bag is the prettiest one yet – unlined canvas with green leaves all over it. Inside my bag: Hang Ten Classic Sport SPF50, Pacifica Mineral Eyeshadow “Duo #2” (Moonbeam & Unicorn), Balanced Guru “No Frizz Organic Sesame and Lemongrass Balancing Oil”, Hey Honey “Take It Off!” Exfoliating Honey Peel Off Mask and Pur~lisse “pur~moist hydra balance moisturizer”.
I am most excited about the No Frizz hair oil. I’ve never heard of the brand, but it has argan oil in it. I love what argan oil does for my hair – goat poop or not. I also like the eye shadow – come on, one of the shades is called “Unicorn”!
