Bubble Gum

Sally Hansen “Jewel Bubble Gum” was an Ulta clearance find from the Jelly Belly x Sally Hansen Collaboration. I don’t know that I’ve ever come across a jelly belly this color, but maybe it was a special limited edition jelly bean?

This is two coats of “Jewel Bubble Gum” over Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat and topped with Glisten & Glow Top Coat. As you would expect, the first coat was streaky, but the second coat was smooth and self-levelling. This is a “conservative” nail polish color that doesn’t feel conservative.

More than anything, it reminds me of satin pointe shoes. It made my toes feel much more sophisticated!

Goodbye 2020!

Although I’m not feeling very festive, my nails sure are…

After Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat, I started with two coats of Color Club “Get Lost”, from this month’s ipsy bag. It was more streaky than I would like, but I made it work.

My friend Brittany inspired me with just a touch of glitter on my nails, no one has time to scrape of individual pieces of glitter with a butter knife…I used a recent Walmart clearance find – Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear “Confetti Craze”. It’s very similar to Sinful Colors “Pride”, so I guess I didn’t need it…but it was only $1.

I did get a proper matte moment with Glisten & Glow Matte Top Coat. I opened a new bottle and it was oh, so nice.

Goodbye 2020, don’t let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya…

Like a Girl

“Like a Girl” is Lizzo’s best song…fight me.

I’m just assuming that this polish is named for that song – Sally Hansen Mega Strength “Like a Girl”. It’s a FANTASTIC fuchsia crème. I don’t notice any difference between the Mega Strength and Xtreme Wear polishes, other than the bottle shape.

This is two coats of “Like a Girl” over Sally Hansen Double Duty and under Glisten & Glow Top Coat. It did wear very well. I only ended up taking it off when I cracked one of my nails trying to peel price tags off of a new set of bowls.

Birthday Cake

If my birthday cake had blue and orange specs in it, I’d be highly suspicious. But in a nail polish – it’s delightful!

This is Jelly Belly x Sally Hansen Insta-Dri “Birthday Cake” – it’s a white crème polish, with orange and blue glitters in different sizes.

This is two coats over Sally Hansen Double Duty. Cake is usually not shiny, so I topped with Glisten & Glow Matte Top Coat

Very Cherry

Forget for a moment that “Very Cherry” Jelly Bellies are plain old red jelly beans. Jelly Belly x Sally Hansen Insta Dri “Jewel Very Cherry” is an iridescent magenta dream. The base does lean red, but this is definitely a pink polish. I forgive you, Sally, for trying to make me believe this beautiful polish is a cherry jelly bean.

I started with Sally Hansen Double Duty – will I ever finish this damn bottle? This is two coats of “Jewel Very Cherry”, topped with Glisten & Glow Top Coat.

This polish looked very familiar to me, once it was on my nails. It might be a dupe of one of my OLDEST polishes – Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear “Hot Magenta”. They are not an exact match – but they are pretty darn close.

Stoned Vibes

While taking my daughter to Ulta for a back-to-school haircut, I had a moment to go shopping for myself…

Urban Decay Cosmetics just launched the “Stoned Vibes” Eyeshadow Palette ($54) and I had been on the fence about it, but seeing it in person lured me in…well, that AND a $10 off a $40 purchase coupon. I’ve had a chance to sample several of the “stoned” shades and they are very different than what you’d expect. They’re very sheer, but buildable. Be warned, they leave a lot of fallout all over your face. The colors are a nice range of colors, too. I’ve seen a few negative reviews, but it’s kind of nice to see Urban Decay branching out and releasing something different than another Naked palette.

I also scooped up some clearance goodies: a few 75% off Frida Kahlo x Ulta Beauty items – a back-up Blurring Primer and the Beso de Amor Cheek & Bronzer Duo. There were also a bunch of Jelly Belly x Sally Hansen polishes at 50% off – “French Vanilla”, “Jewel Very Cherry”, and the “Hop Into Spring” Duo with “Birthday Cake” and “Jewel Bubble Gum”.

I also bought 3 tiny Conair Quick Smooth Hair Brushes, because they have velcro in them to make your hair smooth. I couldn’t tell a difference, honestly. And, they were $6…and I expected them to be $3 because they were so tiny.

The cashier let me break my purchase into two transactions, so I could use the $10 off coupon on the eyeshadow and another $3.50 off coupon on everything else. Just $299 to Diamond status in 2021.

The Always Extra Mermaid Parade

What’s better than a $1.50 nail polish? TWO $1.50 nail polishes.

I picked up THE GLITTER – Sally Hansen Mega Strength “Mermaid Parade” – in my last Ulta order. I ventured out to Ulta this past Sunday for a haircut – I’m pretty sure I haven’t gotten it cut since some time in 2019 – and found Sally Hansen Mega Strength “Always Extra”, a nude sheer with a pink shimmer. These two are meant to be together – they have adjoining bottle numbers! “Always Extra” is 016 and “Mermaid Parade” is 017.

I used Sally Hansen Double Duty for the base coat. It’s not the best, but I’m trying to use up the bottle. All of my nails got two coats of “Always Extra”, except for the pinky, which got two coats of “Mermaid Parade”. I did a full coat of “Mermaid Parade” on top of “Always Extra” on my ring finger, and just did the tip of my middle finger. I finished with Glisten & Glow Top Coat.

I am in LOVE with “Mermaid Parade” – I am going to use it alone soon.

Hufflepuffery

When I got my last Ulta order, I thought my daughter was going to have a seizure from how excited she was about my Gryffindor palette, so as soon as the Hufflepuff version was back in stock, I had to get it for her.

So yes, I ordered her the Harry Potter x Ulta Beauty Hufflepuff Eye Shadow Palette ($16). A few more products dropped, so I also got her a Hufflepuff Cosmetic Bag ($16) and the House Pride Hair Accessory Set ($18)…I admit, I stole the Gryffindor scrunchie and my son stole the Slytherin one.

I came across a new product that I found intriguing – The Sign Tribe Remove and Chill Reusable Nail Polish Remover Pads ($16). I spend a small fortune on cotton rounds, so I was curious if I could save some money using these pads. I’ve used them a few times and they seem to work just fine with regular polish remover. I still need to try them with Remove and Chill Nail Enamel Remover. Each pad is supposed to be able to be used 25 times, whereas I use between 2-6 cotton rounds each time. So…this pack should replace roughly 300 cotton pads, or 3 packs ($3 each or so). If I get 50 uses out of each pad, it might be worth it?

I have a hard time saying “no” to clearance nail polish. It’s rare to see Orly on sale, especially for a price as low as $2.38. I picked up 3 different shades – an iridescent pink pearl called “Beautifully Bizarre” (somehow I added 2 to my cart, so someone will get gifted); a rose gold shimmer called “Lucid Dream”, and a hot pink called “Top Down”. I also got a few cheap Sally Hansen Mega Strength polishes – a pinky gold glitter called “Mermaid Parade” for $2.68 and a matte fuchsia called “Like a Girl” for $1.50.

Oooooh! I qualified for a free pink tote with my $75 purchase. I do not know what I am going to tote with it, but I’ll think of something. I also used a $3.50 off $15 coupon – stacking deals.

$608 to Diamond – almost exactly halfway there!

Berry Blue

I buy so much cheap nail polish, that sometimes I forgot what all I’ve got!

I reached WAY back in the TV cabinet and found Sally Hansen Insta Dri x Jelly Belly “Berry Blue”. I cannot believe I let this beauty sit for nearly a year without trying it! It’s a beautiful opaque blue, smooth and self leveling.

This is two coats of “Berry Blue” over Sally Hansen Double Duty Base & Top Coat. I tried it glossy, using Glisten & Glow Top Coat on my first three fingers and matte, with Glisten & Glow Matte Top Coat on my last two fingers. Hands down, I prefer the matte look – it’s that much more sophisticated…well, as sophisticated as blue nail polish can be.

Heart of Sass

I love me some flakies!

Sally Hansen “Heart of Sass” was an impulse clearance purchase on an Ulta order around last Thanksgiving. I wanted something different, so I dug into my pile of untried polish…

This is two coats of “Heart of Sass” over Sally Hansen Double Duty. The first three fingers are glossy, topped with Glisten & Glow Top Coat. My ring finger and pinky were matte, with Glisten & Glow Matte Top Coat.

I absolutely prefer the matte look – it reminds me of a Pink Grapefruit gummy bear – my favorite flavor.
