Precious Kargo
Sinful Colors “Kargo” is just…WOW.
My nails were already stained green from “Peggy”, so I figured I would stick with the theme and go with a blue or green. I had a suspicion that “Kargo” would be a textured polish. My suspicions were correct…plus, it’s a matte glitter texture. I am loving the Sinful Colors matte formulas.
I started with Sinful Colors Base Coat, then two coats of “Kargo”. The formula was rather thin for a textured polish – I was quite pleased that I didn’t end up with a case of the goopies. No top coat.
“Kargo” is very, very similar to Julep “Jennine” – but a bit less glittery and iridescent. It also had better staying power – I was able to make it Sunday to Thursday before repainting my nails.
Konstellation Chalkboard
Okay, we get it – those Kardashians like the letter “K”.
This is Sinful Colors “Konstellation”, my first pick from the handful of Kylie Jenner polishes that I picked up on clearance at Walgreen’s. I thought it would be a shimmery duochrome charcoal, but I was wrong…it’s a matte polish! The charcoal did shift from purple to green, almost like a puddle of motor oil in the driveway – but not shiny. I know what it reminds me of – a chalkboard! Something my children will never, ever see…
This is two coats over Sinful Colors Base Coat. Like most matte polishes, it dried extremely quickly. It pulled back from the tips a bit as it dried, but it doesn’t look too bad. It did tend to stick to my skin – be careful with this polish. If might take a few strips of skin off if you try to peel it from around your fingernails.
If I had a more careful hand, I could use “Konstellation” as a background for some chalkboard themed nail art…I might have to experiment a bit to see how it works out. Or maybe I should try stamping over it…Hmmmmm….
Vacation Time Lolita
I LOVE finding polishes that match my lippies!
At first, I was confident that Sinful Colors “Vacation Time” would be a match to Jeffree Star “Celebrity Skin”, but it wasn’t brown enough. Then I looked at “Rose Matter”, but “Vacation Time” wasn’t nearly that pink. Then I looked at Kat Von D “Lolita” – BINGO! It’s a perfect match!
After Sinful Colors Base Coat, I painted two coats of “Vacation Time”. Like most creme polishes, the first coat was streaky, but the second coat evened it out. It is a nice formula – not too thick, not too thin. I used “HK Girl” to finish.
I also did my toes – I’m not so sure how I feel about my toes looking so…normal.
I’m So Money
I’m so money…you don’t even know.
This combination reminds me of a crispy $20 bill – one of those new multicolored ones. I started with two coats of Sinful Colors “Moss Have” over Sinful Colors Base Coat. “Moss Have” is a creamy moss green pearl chrome – similar to “Tokyo Pearl”. I like this formula much better – fewer drag marks from the brush and it doesn’t leave streaks.
For contrast, I used Sinful Colors “Under Cover” on my thumb and forefinger – two coats. More glitter = more happy. I love glitters like these with a dense concentration of different sizes and colors of glitter.
“HK Girl” sealed the deal. I’m hoping that this manicure lasts a while…I don’t know when I’ll have a chance to paint them again…Shhhh…
Polishes and Potato Chips
Oh Walgreens, I love you so much…
I knew when I left for Mexico that Walgreens was running a 2/$3 Sinful Colors sale. I pushed it out of my head, which was all the harder since 90% of my polishes are packed away. Sigh.
But wait! On Friday, we were running errands and needed drinks…I commandeered the vehicle towards Walgreens…
…and was excited to find that this Walgreens finally had a new collection! I grabbed three polishes from the “Camo Glitter” collection – “Under Cover” (different sizes of black, gold, green and light pink glitter with tiny white skull and crossbones), “Cute Cadet” (black, white, gold and pink holographic glitter), and “Army Brat” (pink glitter with a mystery black shape I cannot determine).
I got another “Sugar Crush” called “Surreally Sweet” – I loved “Sugar High” so much, I had to get the pink version. The last two were “Moss Have” (reminds me of cold, hard cash) and “Purple Diamond” (oops, I already have this one…so I gave it to Lily – she’s the one who asked for it anyway).
…and then I saw the potato chips.
I am a sucker for those weird Lays flavors. Instead of the contests they’ve done the last few years, they rolled out a series of International chips called “Passport to Flavor”.
“Greek Tzatziki” was my hands down favorite – it has a rich cucumber dill flavor. I would love to eat one with one of last year’s Gyro chips. This one was also Lily’s favorite – I’m assuming it was close enough to Ranch Dressing for her to love it.
“Brazilian Picanha” was my husband’s favorite. To me, it was just all right…nothing special.
My son’s favorite was “Indian Tikka Masala”. To my knowledge, he’s never had real Tikka Masala, so I was kind of surprised. I need to get him to an Indian Buffet soon.
Walgreens didn’t have Chinese Szechuan Chicken, but I picked it up at Kroger this weekend. Although my husband thought they were yummy, no one else liked them – a bit too spicy and sour.
I ate half a bag of the “Tzatziki” chips last night. I’ll be sad when they discontinue them.
More Minty Fresh
There’s something about mint nail polish – I can’t not think of toothpaste. This is Jenna Hipp “Thin Mint”, a creme polish similar to the original Minty Fresh – Zoya “Dillon”.
I started with Sinful Colors Base Coat. The first coat of “Thin Mint” was streaky and blotchy, but the second coat smoothed everything out and self leveled to a beautiful finish. “HK Girl” was the finishing touch.
This polish needs silver glitter!
My nails are so short…I had to trim them all down again, after chipping my middle and pinky nail. I also mangled my ring finger – I cut the edge too close to the quick as I was rounding the edges…it’s all swollen and gross and pink. Ugh, I can’t wait to relax and be gentle to my hand again.
Magic Card Trick
Feeling like I needed something different…so I pulled out Sinful Colors “I’m All In”.
After Sinful Colors Base Coat, I started with “I’m All In”. I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to get several glitters on my brush…except they were mostly diamonds. I had to dig for hearts, spades and clubs. Yup, this polish has glitters to match the suites on a deck of cards. I was able to get a few of the other glitters on my nails fairly easily.
Looking at the bottle, I was expecting a darker purple finish, but it came out sheer pink. This is two heavy coats.
I finished with “HK Girl”, which smoothed most of the edges, but I’m still catching a few glitters on things. Argh…
I think this polish would look really outstanding over a black or red. I’ll keep that in mind for the future…
Nutcrackin’ Beaches
I just couldn’t stay away from Funky Fingers “Aloha Beaches” – I had to have more.
Actually, I wanted “Aloha Beaches” on my toes – to match my new Flamingo swimsuit. So after doing my toes, I decided to use it on my fingers. After Sinful Colors Base Coat and two coats of “Aloha Beaches”, I decided to get all fancy with a coat of Funky Fingers “Son of a Nutcracker”. Yes, I know it is a Xmas polish…but it’s green and pink and white and silver glitter – I had to do it. I finished with “HK Girl”. All the top coats changed the demi-matte finish of “Aloha Beaches”, but it’s still pretty, pretty.
This combination has lasted like a champ. I did it last Sunday night and I’ve been too busy to change it…I’ve got some edge wear, but that’s it. YASSSSS!
