Ride or Die

“Milk Nails” are a hot celeb nail trend right now, at least according to Glamour. Good thing I got Trust Fund Beauty “Ride or Die” in last month’s ipsy bag!

This is two coats of “Ride or Die” over Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Top Coat and under Glisten & Glow Top Coat.

I appreciated the gloss and depth of a milky nail polish – but it was also a bit streaky. I HATE streaks! The top coat made the streaks more forgivable…

I am also digging Trust Fund Beauty’s new bottle look – it’s not as elegant as the old bottles, but the new logo and font is definitely a lot more fun.

March 2023 Ipsy Bag – Step Into Your Power

Words cannot express how much I love the pyramid textured bag this month. It’s on trend and luxurious, begging you to run your fingers along the ridges…OH. I guess I just DID express in words how much I love it. Hmmm…

This month’s product choice was Hey Honey! Make A Splash! Intense Hydrating Aqua Serum. I haven’t tried it yet, because I’m trying to use up a few different serums, but I am looking forward to using it. I really like Hey Honey! face products.

Also in this month’s bag: Mischo Beauty Blush in “Madam” (meh); Ren Clean Skincare Evercalm™ Barrier Support Antioxidant Moisturizer; Trust Fund Beauty Nail Lacquer in “Ride of Die” (is this another silly putty polish?); and KAB Cosmetics Mini Tinted Lip Oil in “Borderline”.

Not a bad bag this month, but it’s not blowing me away either. Meh.

I subscribe to the basic ipsy bag for $13/month and Glam Bag X for an extra $43/quarterly. If you’d like to try Ipsy –  click here. I’ll earn 250 points if you sign up through my referral link.

What’s A Budget?

A post shared by Lara (@knobbygirl) on

“What’s A Budget?” by Trust Fund Beauty came in last month’s ipsy bag. Now that’s a good polish for me – I keep talking about having a budget, but then I just buy whatever I want anyway.

I’m not quite sure how to categorize this color – ipsy says it’s sea foam blue, but there’s a hint of tropical mint. Or maybe mojito? There’s a hint of shimmer in the polish, but it’s hard to see in the picture. Coincidentally, it perfectly matches the color we are painting our living room – Behr “Island Oasis”.

I started with Sinful Colors Base Coat. The first coat was thick, streaky and gross. I nearly gave up and took it off. I persisted and painted a second coat. Like magic, it leveled out and the streaks disappeared. How about that…“HK Girl” finished the job.

I would have kept it on longer, but the edges looked shit after taping off the kitchen…

June Ipsy Bag – Volume Up

A post shared by Lara (@knobbygirl) on

Ooooh…look at those lips. So why aren’t there any lip products in my bag this month?

Let’s see…I got a Beaute Basics Travel Face Blender in Light Pink; Peek Beauty Multiuse Black Primer (I am scared and intrigued by this product at the same time; how do I end up NOT looking like I got punched in the eye?); PÜR Mini Fully Charged Magenetic Mascara (another scary product – it’s literally supposed to be magnets); Trust Fund Beauty Nail Polish in “What’s a Budget” (sea-foam blue); and Delectable by Cake Beauty Coconut & Cream Triple Moisture Body Lotion.

A fun bag for summer – with a few products I’ll have to get brave enough to try.

$12 Latte?!?!?!

A post shared by Lara (@knobbygirl) on

Thinking…have I ever spent $12 on a latte? I’m sure I’ve spent at least $7 or $8 in Vegas…and at every airport Starbucks ever. But there aren’t people out there spending $12 on the regular? Are there?

Trust Fund Beauty “$12 Latte” was in last month’s ipsy bag. It’s a deep chocolate brown. I started with Sinful Colors Base Coat and then two coats of “$12 Latte”. I decided jazz it up a little with Nicole by OPI “Pick of the Glitter”, one of my favorite glitters. The bronze and turquoise really brings out the chocolatey goodness. I finished with “HK Girl”.

“$12 Latte” was silky smooth – full coverage in two coats, with no streaks. I really like this brown – this will be my goto brown when I’m in a poopy mood.

February Ipsy Bag – Much Love

A post shared by Lara (@knobbygirl) on

I’m loving the February Ipsy Bag – “Much Love”, in fact.

Inside this month’s cute little denim bag: Trust Fund Beauty Nail Polish in “$12 Latte” (It’s actually darker than a latte – more like $12 Mocha); NYX Butter Lipstick in “Lifeguard” (Yup, Baywatch red); BellaPierre Cosmetics Volumelash Waterproof Mascara (Ugh, hate waterproof mascara); Hikari Cosmetics Cream Pigment Eye Shadow in “Latte” (Oooooh, another latte – it’s going straight into my Z Palette…speaking of Z Palette, they’re in the middle of a controversy for being assholes on social media – I won’t be buying another one, but I already gave them my money for this one); and BeFine Food Skin Care Gentle Face Cleanser (I’m running low on cleanser samples, so this came at a good time).

Another great bag this month!

January Ipsy Bag – Metropolis

A photo posted by Lara (@knobbygirl) on

“Metropolis” is January’s futuristic city theme. Did Superman create this beauty bag for Lois Lane?

The first product that drew my attention was the Pretty Woman Nail Polish in “I Can’t Deal” – it’s a pavement grey cream. So weird – I don’t own any polishes like this at all. Also in this month’s bag: Beaute Basics Contour Blush Brush; Trust Fund Beauty Lipgasm Lipgloss in “Blame Game” (I hope it lives up to it’s name); Naked Cosmetics Mica Pigment in “Desert Sunset #02″ (I got a similar shade in last February’s bag) and Jelly Pong Pong Lip Scrub in “Coffee + Coconut” (looking forward to seeing if this scrub rescues my abused lips).

A very odd bag, but I’ll use most of the items.

Silly Putty

A photo posted by Lara (@knobbygirl) on

Doesn’t Trust Fund Beauty “No Filter” look just like silly putty? Grayish beige with a hint of pink/lavender. It’s almost dirty looking.

I don’t know what’s up with the Trust Fund Beauty polishes that ipsy keeps putting in their bags…the colors just are not normal.

After Orly Bonder, I slapped on two quick coats of this thick creme polish. So thick. I was fairly careful, but I still got a few crinkled edges. Luckily, it wasn’t streaky after the second coat. A coat of “HK Girl” was just what I needed to make it super shiny.

My poor middle fingernail was a casualty of house cleaning activities this weekend. I weep for my fallen fingernail.

July Ipsy Bag – Hot Summer Nights

A photo posted by Lara (@knobbygirl) on

July’s theme is “Hot Summer Nights”…and that’s pretty accurate here in Texas…it’s hot as fuck 24 hours a day. Oh, oh those summer nights…

Is the design on this ipsy bag a repeat? I swear I’ve seen it before…or am I just losing my mind?

Let’s see what i’ve received…Trust Fund Beauty Nail Polish in “No Filter” (a bizarre greyish lavender); theBalm Cosmetics Meet Matt(e) Trimony Eye Shadow in “Matt Moskowitz” (dark matte maroon – reminiscent of Manischewitz); J. Cat Beauty Perfect Duo Brow Pencil in “Dark Brown” (YES – always ready to try new brow pencils…until someday I can scrape up enough cash for micro blading); Vasanti Cosemtics Eye Shadow Brush (meh); and Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre (I’ve gotten this before, but still haven’t tried it).

The products don’t seem all that summery, but they are definitely products for a night out, so I get it.

Elegantly Wasted

A photo posted by Lara (@knobbygirl) on

Is it even possible to be elegantly wasted?

To be “wasted”, it’s generally understood to indicate a state of sloppy hot mess. Whatever, this polish by Trust Fund Beauty is called “Elegantly Wasted”.

I got it a million years ago in an ipsy bag. I’d been resisting it because it’s so boring. “Elegantly Wasted” is a greyish lavender – elegant, I guess? I needed something boring after the worst polish ever.

After Orly Bonder, I tentatively put on a coat of “Elegantly Wasted”. Second coat, no problem — smooth cream coverage. I added shine with “HK Girl”.

I don’t know what I was so worried about. It looks pretty good for boring.
