Mrs. Mucus

Doesn’t the base of this polish remind you of Mrs. Mucus? That rude bitch who lives inside of your nose…

I wasn’t planning on getting this year’s Halloween collection…but…there it was in Walmart, just begging to go home with me. This is Sinful Colors “Sour Apple Killer”, a “candy-inspired” polish. I admit, it does quite look like a melted Jolly Rancher, even down to the little air bubbles.

Remember the ant-spider-baby-skulls? They’re back! And it appears that either the polish is a new and improved formula OR they put a fuck-ton more glitters into the bottle. Either way, I had no problem fishing them out of the bottle.

This is three coats of “Sour Apple Killer” over Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat and under Glisten & Glow Top Coat.

October 2020 Allure Beauty Box – Screen Gab

$23 for this???

I was expecting at 4-5 full size products for $23, so imagine my surprise to get this box of tiny little random products.

The only product I’ve been using so far is the Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Cream – I’ve been putting it on my face before I go to bed. It is a very heavy moisturizer, so not suitable for daytime. I definitely WILL use the Static Nails Liquid Glass Lacquer in “Irene”, but it is not spooky enough for the few weeks before Halloween.

Also in this month’s “Screen Gab” box: The Nue Co. Topical C (powdered vitamin C that I am supposed to mix into other face products – way too much work for me); Verso Super Eye Serum (ugh); Sigma Liquid Lipstick in “Venom” (not even full size – rude – and I haven’t been bothering with lipstick since I cannot leave the house without a mask); La Roche-Posay Lipikar Balm AP+ (I literally just put this on my hands – it is kinda nice); Wilma Schumann Hydrating Collagen Eye Pads; and Rusk Native Fig Shampoo & Conditioner...just a single use foil pack! What a rip-off!

I’ll give Allure one more month to get their shit together or I am pulling the plug.

The Allure Beauty Box just increased their price from $15 to $23/month. They also offer an option for $250/year – a savings of $26. Sign up via my referral link.

Lucid Dream

Orly “Lucid Dream” reminds me of a shiny, new penny…how many penny polishes do I have? Julep “Penny” Julep “Natalia”OPI “Worth a Pretty Penne”…I don’t care, I’ll buy them all!

Orly nail polish is such great quality – amazing coverage and no brush marks! This is two coats of “Lucid Dream” over Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat. My pinky got the matte treatment with Glisten & Glow Matte Top Coat, while the rest went shiny with Glisten & Glow Top Coat.

Like a Girl

“Like a Girl” is Lizzo’s best song…fight me.

I’m just assuming that this polish is named for that song – Sally Hansen Mega Strength “Like a Girl”. It’s a FANTASTIC fuchsia crème. I don’t notice any difference between the Mega Strength and Xtreme Wear polishes, other than the bottle shape.

This is two coats of “Like a Girl” over Sally Hansen Double Duty and under Glisten & Glow Top Coat. It did wear very well. I only ended up taking it off when I cracked one of my nails trying to peel price tags off of a new set of bowls.

Birthday Cake

If my birthday cake had blue and orange specs in it, I’d be highly suspicious. But in a nail polish – it’s delightful!

This is Jelly Belly x Sally Hansen Insta-Dri “Birthday Cake” – it’s a white crème polish, with orange and blue glitters in different sizes.

This is two coats over Sally Hansen Double Duty. Cake is usually not shiny, so I topped with Glisten & Glow Matte Top Coat

Red No 18

As much as I love Sundays Studio nail polishes, it does drive me a little batty that they give them numbers instead of names. What is the significance of the numbers? I don’t understand!

Sundays “No 18” is a perfect, glossy blood red from September’s ipsy bag. It’s a close dupe for Urban Decay Mrs. Mia Wallace.

This is two coats of “No 18” over Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat and under Glisten & Glow Top Coat.

Sweet 16

I don’t know where my daughter got this nail polish, but she brought it to me to try out. I have her trained a little bit, huh?

This is Del Sol Color Change Nail Polish in “Sweet 16”. I hope you appreciate the patience it took to wait 3 days to get a picture of the color change in sunlight, as I waited for Hurricane Beta to pass through my area. The label led me to believe that the polish would turn RED in the sunlight, but the best I could do was a faded orange.

This is two coats of “Sweet 16” over Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat. I went glossy with Glisten & Glow Top Coat on my thumb and ring finger and matte with Glisten & Glow Matte Top Coat on the rest of my fingers. Matte is the way to go with this polish – it made my nails look like stained glass. Neither top coat affected the polish’s (weak) reaction to sunlight.

September 2020 Ipsy Bag – Good Vibes

Ooooh…corduroy. This month’s ipsy bag has me feeling some kind of way. At least I don’t have to hear it rubbing together between my thighs.

My product choice this month was a Generation Clay Urban Defense Purifying Pink Clay Mask. I love me some clay masks. I used the mask today and it was very nice. It dried quickly and I could feel it sucking all the gunk out of my pores – highly recommended.

Also in this month’s “Good Vibes” bag: Sundays Nail Polish in “No 18” (visuals coming soon); tarte Big Ego mascara in “Black” (ohhh, I have so much mascara); Georgette Klinger Volcanic Mineral Scrub (this smells HORRIBLE); and Pacifica Beauty Desert Sunset Matte Blush & Bronzer Duo (used this today as well, very flattering).

Good products this month, even though the bag itself reminds me of baby poopoos.

I subscribe to the basic ipsy bag for $12/month. If you’d like to try Ipsy – click here. I’ll earn 250 points if you sign up through my referral link.

Feeling Grinchy

Is it too early to be feeling Grinchy?

Or maybe it’s not that I’m feeling Grinchy, it’s just that humanity is really showing it’s ass right now…

In any case, I needed a sparkly green nail polish to match my recently pedicured toes, so I grabbed China Glaze “Grinchworthy”.

This is two coats of “Grinchworthy” over Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat and under Glisten & Glow Top Coat.

Macaroni in a Pot

Macaroni in a pot…that’s some wet ass polish.

I’m sorry, I couldn’t resist. Please forgive me.

This nail that is so reminiscent of the neon orange cheese powder in a box of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese, is Sinful Colors Quick Bliss “Hit the Spot”. I was expecting to hate this on my nails, but it actually looked really nice. It was so bright, I kept surprising myself, doing double takes whenever I’d catch sight of them walking by the bathroom mirror.

This is two coats of “Hit the Spot” over Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat and under Glisten & Glow Top Coat.

I bet this would look even more like Macaroni & Cheese powder with a matte top coat…hmmmm…
