Dorothy, DUH
If I was one of the Golden Girls, I would OBVIOUSLY be Dorothy. I have the fierce wit and I have the height. The only thing I don’t have is a sketchy ex-husband with a dumb mustache. (Don’t worry, honey – that’s isn’t a hint.)
Fresh Paint “Dorothy” is a fierce metallic pink. At first, I thought it was a dupe of Zoya “Bobbi”, but “Bobbie” is darker and brighter. Phew, I didn’t end up with a dupe. I’d almost call “Dorothy” a rose gold, but it’s more like a rose silver. Is rose silver even a real thing?
I started with Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat, then painted two coats of “Dorothy”. I topped with Glisten & Glow Top Coat.
I fixed the cuticles on my thumb and index finger with Julep Vanish! They look so much better now – color me relieved.

January 2018 Julep Maven Box – Advantage Point
I totally fucking forgot to “curate” January’s box. Oops. I remember looking at this month’s collection, but I guess I forgot to go back in and finalize my selections.
What they sent me is fine though. I’m not out of love your bare face Detoxifying Cleansing Stick, but it IS a product I use and enjoy, so I ain’t even mad. The colors they sent me are plain, but not dupes of shades that I have. I got Classic with a Twist “Jenn” – Mahogany Creme – and Wonder Maven “Geri” – Blushing Beige Creme. See – very “naked” polishes!
No candy or treats in my box. Boo.

Every Kiss Begins With…
Another polish so soon? Did you see that bad purple? It had to go.
I had to clear my palette with Julep “Kay”, a shimmery neutral taupe. It’s almost a pearl finish. It’s slightly darker than my skin, so I don’t feel as washed out as when I wear lighter, skin-toned polish.
I started with Julep Oxygen Bonding Base Coat, two coats and finished with Glisten & Glow Top Coat.
I’ve been a Julep subscriber for over 4 years. It’s not super extravagant, but it’s not inexpensive either. The reason I continue my subscription is the consistent high quality of these polishes and variety of finishes. I honestly cannot remember the last time I was disappointed in a Julep polish…some of the beauty products have been hit or miss, though. I plan to continue my Julep subscription for the foreseeable future.

Persephone
Fresh new new nails for a fresh new year. 2018 couldn’t be any worse than 2017, right?
Wait, forget I said that. I don’t want to tempt fate.
My first paint job of the year is Julep “Persephone”. Crushed berry holographic – it’s basically a bright fuchsia with multicolored sparkles throughout. It’s abso-fucking-mazing. I am really loving this month’s Julep Collection.
This is two coats of “Persephone” over Julep Oxygen Bonding Base Coat and under Glisten & Glow Top Coat.

Xmas Spirit
Just days until Xmas, and I find myself sorely lacking in “Xmas Spirit”. The tree is up, the house is decorated, presents wrapped…I’ve even been listening to Xmas music ON PURPOSE…and there is no Xmas Spirit to be had. I think I figured out why…no Xmas-themed nails yet!
This month’s Julep box had the remedy to that situation. I picked Julep “Dyani” as the background for the snowflake decals. Those little decals were stubborn as fuck – they did NOT want to come off the backing paper in one piece. I used my thinnest, sharpest tweezers and got all but one of them off in one piece. This is two coats of “Dyani”, over Julep Oxygen Bonding Base Coat, then decals, then Glisten & Glow Top Coat.
As soon as my nails were done – not even dry – I felt it entering my body. I felt almost…jolly? The Xmas Spirit had returned to me…until this morning. Michael Buble’s cover of ‘Santa Baby’ rotated onto my Amazon Station and I made the mistake of listening to the whole thing. I’ve never hated a Xmas song as much as I hated that song. It made me want to smash my Xmas tree with a bat and then set it on fire.
Maybe I’ll feel better by next Xmas.

Kayleigh
Is it any surprise that Julep “Kayleigh” was the first polish I chose to sample this month? I mean…just look at it!
Holly berry iridescent shimmer is how Julep describes this polish. It does remind me a bit of holly berries. My current house doesn’t have any holly berry shrubs…I think…but my last house did. That pop of red in a sea of dark green is Xmas in a nutshell.
I’ve strayed away from taking nail pictures outside the last few months – partially because of daylight savings time, but also because my new kitchen lights are so good. I had to go back on the back porch though to capture the purple shimmer in “Kayleigh”. Can you catch it?
This is two coats over Julep Oxygen Bonding Base Coat and under Glisten & Glow Top Coat. I am in LOVE with this polish.

December Julep Maven Box – Going Baroque
I’m really making an attempt to be on the ball this month. That – AND I really want to dig into all these polishes!
I feel like I splurged a bit on this month’s “Going Baroque” Collection. I was really excited to see the it’s whipped Matte Lip Mousse in metallic finishes, so I added both to my box – “bacio”, copper russet metallic matte, and “spark”, plum metallic matte. Even thought the Lip Mousses transfer onto everything, I really like how they feel on my lips. I also added Classic with a Twist “Kayleigh”, holly berry iridescent shimmer. What a red!
The splurge was adding three add-ons this month, using up almost all my saved Jules. I added Bombshell “Persephone”, crushed berry holographic, It Girl “Dyani”, starry night sky holographic, AND white snowflake decals. For my trouble, they sent me a free polish – Boho Glam “Magdalene”. Boo – I got this one back in 2015.
The biggest mystery is the addition of Bombshell “Mira”, cast iron matte shimmer, in this month’s box. It was a new polish created for October’s Divine Darkness Mystery Box. Maybe a freebie that everyone got instead of candy? I’ll happily take it!

Thanksgiving Nails
I know that Thanksgiving is long past…don’t judge me…
I tested several polishes and finally settled on Julep “Laurie” as my base color. I know I just wore it, but it was good match for the wine color in my Thanksgiving dress. I started with two coats over Julep Oxygen Bonding Base Coat.
I used Zoya Magical Pixie Dust “Bar” to jazz up each nail. I’ve never used a Magical Pixie Dust in this way, so I wasn’t really sure how it would turn out. I just lightly dusted it on each nail – the texture is heavy, so I used very little and spread it around. I topped with Glisten & Glow Top Coat and it mostly smoothed it out, although there were a few pebbled spots.
I absolutely LOVE how these turned out. I need to try this method with the rest of my Pixie Dusts!

Dina
Julep “Dina” is perfect match for well-worn denim – I checked! Well, checked against my husband’s jeans.
I started with Julep Oxygen Binding Base Coat and then painted two coats of “Dina”. I got full coverage in just a single coat, but I always do two…just in case. (In case of what, I do not know.) I finished with Glisten & Glow Top Coat.
“Dina” was the only polish I picked from this month’s box – I love it though. Oooooh, and tomorrow I get to pick out stuff for my December box.

November Julep Maven Box – Nourish & Flourish
Ooohhh…Julep is adding masks to their repertoire!
Yup, I had to add the Triple Quench Deep Hydration Sheet Mask System to this month’s box. Not just a sheet mask – it also includes an essence ampoule pack for before the mask and a sleeping pack for after the mask. I’m going to wait until the winter chill hits my face hard and BAM! I’m going to moisturize the fuck out of my face.
I also chose Your Cuticles Look Thirsty Fast-Absorbing Cuticle Creme. Not a hand lotion, but a creme just for your nails beds. They’re not kidding, my cuticles sucked it right up. This is so much better than a messy cuticle oil. I also chose Julep It Girl “Dina” – vintage denim shimmer. It absolutely does remind me of a comfy pair of stonewashes.
There’s a single mystery hard candy in this month’s box. No words on it all. I opened the cellophane and it’s BLUE, but there’s no smell. I’m scared.
