Hypnotic Frenzy Skittles
Mini Sets are a natural choice for Skittle Manicures…so I grabbed the Julep Hypnotic Frenzy Set and got to work. It is a 6 polish set and it was SO HARD to give one the boot. Sorry “Brita”, you did not make the cut.
I kept it simple and did two coats of each polish over Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat and under Glisten & Glow Top Coat. The three glitter polishes got a coat of Glisten & Glow Glitter Grabber for good luck.
Going from thumb to pinky, I used Bombshell “Kirra” – Icy purple multidimensional glitter; Boho Glam “Maryann” – Lilac mauve shimmer; Boho Glam “Agatha” – Gilded bronze multidimensional glitter; Bombshell “O’Neill” – Sleek copper chrome; and It Girl “Vinsy” – Blooming pink multidimensional glitter. I don’t know that I got the order exactly right, but I really likes how this one turned out.

The Grinch Who Saved Xmas
It’s me…hi. I’m the Grinch, it’s me.
Another Xmas season in the books and I am exhausted. It was mostly good, with just a little toxicity thrown in for flavor. I admit, I had a few “mama bear” moments when I felt like my kids got the shaft, but they are much stronger than I am and just shrugged it off…never underestimate kids’ ability to immediately know WHO the asshole is in a situation.
ANYWAY, I was inspired to create another Julep Skittle mani, this time a GRINCH-y one!
I started with two coats of red (Julep “Stephanie”) and chartreuse (Julep “Sam”) over Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat. I played around with glitters – I used Julep “Ruby Slippers” and Julep “Angelique”. I used Glisten & Glow Glitter Grabber on the glittered nails and then finished with Glisten & Glow Top Coat.
I got so many compliments on these nails…my little black heart grew two full sizes!

Thanksgiving Skittles
Today, I am thankful for several hundred bottles of Julep nail polish, which allowed me to pick the perfect shades for a Thanksgiving Skittles Mani. (A Skittles Mani is simply a different shade on each nail, so that it appears that you are holding a handful of Skittles.)
I started with Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat and then two coats of each, starting with my thumb: Julep “Maryam”, Julep “Mercedes”; Julep “Zoe”, Julep “Tatiana”, and Julep “Dahlia”. I finished with Glisten & Glow Top Coat…don’t you love it? (BTW, Glisten & Glow is having a 35% off Black Friday Sale – I’ve already placed an order.)
I initially was going for Fall Cremes, but I came across “Dahlia” and “Tatiana” and HAD to use them. I did set aside some other possible Skittles combos, so keep an eye out!

Spooky Skylla
Did you miss me?
More importantly, did you miss MY NAILS?
My dad died last week, so I’ve been a bit out of pocket…I’ve been in Upstate New York for the last week or so, dealing with cremation arrangements, hanging with my sister’s family, doing HORRIFIC Marketing homework…but I’m finally back in my “Beauty Hoard” headspace.
Julep Boho Glam “Skylla” has just been chilling in my untried basket since…oh, 2016? “Skylla” is a black coffee ghost shimmer. It does quite resemble wet coffee grounds?
This is two coats of “Skylla” over Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat. I added some fun spooky decals from Julep and topped with Glisten & Glow Glitter Grabber and Glisten & Glow Top Coat. Glitter Grabber really kept the decals from lifting and peeling – it’s a must when using decals!

Kirra
As I was preparing to attend my son’s Senior Night last week, I thought, “Why not show a little school spirit?” His school colors are purple and black, so I dug around for a snazzy purple…
Julep Bombshell “Kirra” is icy purple multidimensional glitter from the Hypnotic Frenzy Set – a bit more sheer than I expected, but buildable. I feel like I got decent coverage in two coats. It was a BITCH AND A HALF to get off, though.
This is two coats of “Kirra” over Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat and under Glisten & Glow Glitter Grabber and Glisten & Glow Top Coat. Maybe those five layers is why it was so hard to get off?

Stirring Sagittarius
What, exactly, is Sagittarius stirring up?
This is Julep “Stirring Sagittarius”, from their Zodiac Collection. Julep described the polish as introspective mauve iridescent. There is a vibrant flash of blue shimmer in this neutral mauve polish, but it is anything but introspective.
This is two coats of “Stirring Sagittarius” over Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat and under Glisten & Glow Top Coat.
Oh, and it also matches the bricks on my house!

Pisces
It’s Pisces season…so why not pull out Julep “Passionate Pisces”?
This is a simple manicure – just two coats of “Passionate Pisces” over Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat and under Glisten & Glow Top Coat. I love how super shiny this polish is.
Coincidentally, BOTH of my children are passionate Pisces.

Joss
Can you believe that I still have at least a dozen Julep polishes that I haven’t tried yet?
Julep “Joss” is a ripe fig duochrome and has been chilling in the pile for over five years! It’s mostly dark purple, but there’s that little hint of green. Can you see it?
This is two coats of “Joss” over Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat and under Glisten & Glow Top Coat. My top coat is getting thick and goopy – I need to order a new one!
I’m going to have to assume that this polish is named for Joss Stone, who had that one song, and NOT that douche Joss Whedon.

…and that’s how I went to the prom with Geena Davis
…but you probably already read about that in People.
I will buy you a socially distanced beer if you know what I am talking about…
The star of my first 2021 manicure is Julep “Geena – Rose Quartz for January”. It’s sheerer than I expected – I thought it would be a textured glitter – but it was a smooth jelly glitter. I like it, although I’d like it more if my nails weren’t so stained.
This is two coats of “Geena” over Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat and topped with Glisten & Glow Top Coat. So shiny!

Leo
I’m not a Leo…but I cannot resist Julep “Leo” – golden honey duo metallic. I LOVE the hints of green in this honey hued polish. It reminds me a bit of stained glass or maybe carnival glass?
This is two coats of “Leo” over Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat and under Glisten & Glow Top Coat.
This polish has been sitting in my cabinet nearly a year – how have I been sleeping on this delightful, delectable polish??? I wonder what else is hiding in there…
