Ectoplasm

Arcana Lacquer “Ectoplasm” was the first polish I picked from September’s PPUWEEN to swatch. It’s inspired by ectoplasm – that slimy ghost goo from Ghostbusters.

It’s a sheer jelly polish that shifts from chartreuse to aquamarine and I absolutely love it. It was a bit streaky, but the nature of the polish made it really hard to tell that there are brush streaks. It wore fairly well – it made it 9 days with only a few nails looking like hell. It was perfect for a Carnival cruise, mostly because it matches my Flamingo muu muu.

This is two coats of “Ectoplasm”, over Cuticula Mic Drop Base Coat in “Froot Loops” and under Cuticula Limitless Top Coat in “Pink Sugared Lemons“.

Polish Pickup September 2026 – PPUWEEN

It’s that time again…PPUWEEN!

I feel like I was rather conservative this year…but I decided to try something new and grab the “Embrace the Darkside” Stamping Plate from Hit the Bottle Polishes ($14.99). It’s full of all kinds of spooky images – now I just need to get off my ass and remember how to use my Moyou Stamper.

Moon Shine Mani “Season of the Witch” ($14) is inspired by the song, duh. Did you know that Alanis Morrissette just dropped a cover? It’s good!

Arcana Lacquer “Ectoplasm” ($13) is inspired by Slimer’s slime AKA ectoplasm.

Prism Parade “One Wish Willow” ($14) is inspired by the infamous product from the film Obsession.

Glisten & Glow “Vampire Venom” ($14) is inspired by a previous polish from their 2022 “Dracula’s Den” Collection called “Vamp Stamp” – how very meta.

Can you guess which one I wore on my 50th birthday cruise?

Polish Pickup March 2026 – Sky Creatures

I went a bit overboard with March’s Polish Pickup….but how can I resist “Sky Creatures”?

1422 Designs “Flamboyance” ($13.50) is inspired by a flamboyance…which is a group of flamingos!

Arcana Lacquer “The Firemind” ($14.50) is a magnetic polish inspired by Niv Mizzet from Magic: The Gathering. (I haven’t played Magic in 30 years, but Google says it is a dragon wizard.)

Alchemy Lacquers “Here Be Dragons” ($13) is inspired by the dragons in the game, Stellaris.

Pahlish “Icarus” ($15) is a pricey magnetic polish inspired by the tale of the mortal that flew too close to the sun.

Haunted Polish “Odette” ($13.50) looks very similar to “Icarus”, but seems to be inspired by Swan Lake.

Sassy Cats Lacquer “Sky Fairy” ($13.50) is inspired by my second favorite moth, the luna moth.

Tyler’s Trinkets “Luck Dragon” ($13.50) is the third white-ish polish in the bunch, inspired by Falcor in The Neverending Story.

I’ll be having lots of fun with these polishes!
