Shantay You Stay

I wouldn’t say that The Flamingo is my favorite casino to stay at in Vegas – that would be The Cosmopolitan…but it is my favorite to just bum around in. There are flamingos everywhere, it smells like suntan lotion…and it’s home to RuPaul’s Drag Race Live! I was lucky enough to get to see the show on my birthday in 2020, a week or so after it launched. It was a blast and I can’t wait to go again.

Atomic Polish “Shantay You Stay” is from June’s “Vacation Destinations” Polish Pickup and is inspired by Las Vegas and RuPaul’s Drag Race Live. I usually avoid oranges and corals, but this flamingo-esque shade was just begging to be added to my cart. It applies like a dream and lasts forever and ever – I’ve had it on my toes for about 3 weeks!

This is two coats of “Shantay You Stay” over Cuticula Mic Drop Base Coat in “Tropical Oasis” and under Cuticula Limitless Top Coat in “Froot Loops“.

Polish Pickup June 2025 – Vacation Destinations

Is there anything more “June” than this month’s Polish Pickup theme? Nothing better than a Vacation Destination…

I don’t usually pick up the body products, but I was drawn to Unicorn Magic Skincare Deluxe Coconut Milk Hand Creme in “Dole Whip” ($9.75). It smells EXACTLY like Dole Whip…I’ve been hooked since I visited the Dole Plantation in Hawaii. I may have bought an extra one for someone…

I knew I would be getting Atomic Polish “Shantay You Stay” ($13.50). It’s inspired Las Vegas, home of RuPaul’s Drag Race Live! I was lucky enough to see it on my birthday in 2020 – highly recommend. Doesn’t it remind you of a flamingo?

Ahmya Cosmetics “Snap, Crackle Splash” ($13.50) is a magnetic polish inspired by fireworks on the beach.

Baroness X “Tiki Totem” ($13.50), another magnetic polish, is inspired by tiki statues in the South Pacific.

Cadillacquer “Neon Lights” ($14) is inspired by NYC’s Times Square. This polish seems just as overwhelming as I found Times Square to be – I cannot wait to try it!

Lots of BRIGHT polishes to try this month. Wait, it’s already next month….fuck.

Power Number

…I feel like I’ve been stuck in the early 00’s lately – binging One Tree Hill with Lily, which also means revisiting the music and fashion – so why not revive another millennial trend? CRACKLE POLISH is back y’all.

Fresh from April’s Polish Pickup, we’ve got Colores de Carol “Power Number“. It’s a teal multichrome shimmer crackle – it’s got EVERYTHING, and it crackles like a sonofabitch.

I started with Cuticula Mic Drop Base Coat in “Tropical Oasis” and a single coat of Atomic Polish “Sour Apple Rings”. I topped with a thick coat of “Power Number” and I admit, that it got patchy as it shrunk, so I may have filled in a few bald spots to even out the finished look. I finished with Cuticula Limitless Top Coat in “Blackberry Passionfruit“.

Year of the Snake

So…I already mentioned that my reading comprehension is shall we say – lacking? Allow me to explain…

I was so excited to try the Le Mini Macaron Lunar New Year Nail Polish + Sticker Collection – Year of the Snake. I opened that sucker up and started in with the red one (after a base coat, of course). My first thought was that this stuff sure is goopy. Thick and goopy. I soldiered on. After two thin coats, I started adding stickers to each nail. The stickers slid around a bit, but I’ve seen that before. Surely a coat of Glitter Grabber would help…it did not. Now the red polish has turned to jelly. I make a last ditch effort with my top coat…and the polish totally liquefies. I have red jelly glitter shit dripping from my nails and I have to pick my daughter up from work in 10 minutes. I quickly remove the polish so I can touch my steering wheel. While I’m waiting for her to get done closing down, I start googling…I have made a grave mistake. This gel polish requires a UV light to cure. I do not own a UV light, nor am I interested in getting one. I just spent $40 on stickers.

Ultimately, I redid the manicure using Atomic Polish “Redrum” starting with Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat, two coats of “Redrum”, my $40 stickers, Glisten & Glow Glitter Grabber, and Glisten & Glow Top Coat. About half of these fucking stickers decided to lift off, but the other half stayed nice and flat. What’s the secret? Someone MUST know!!!

There is a happy ending though – my son’s girlfriend does have a UV light, so I gave the polishes to her. I kept the stickers.

P.S. I’m saving some of the extra snake stickers for Reputation (Taylor’s Version).

Sour Apple Rings

It’s not too late for BRAT Summer is it?

It was 96 degrees outside today…tell me that’s not summer!

Atomic Polish “Sour Apple Rings” was another score from July’s Remix, but was originally released in May 2023 – Junk Food. Those who know me, KNOW how much I hate sour apple flavored things – even green apple jolly ranchers…but this color is not that. This is the best neon polish I’ve ever used. No white base coat, nothing extra – just neon glowing goodness. I did get a few chips the first day – but that’s my fault for digging in the dirt and gardening.

Atomic Polish is quickly becoming one of my favorite Indie brands…check out “Redrum”!

This is two coats of “Sour Apple Rings” over Cuticula Mic Drop Base Coat in “Melt Down” and under Cuticula Limitless Top Coat in “Champagne Toast“.

Polish Pickup July 2024 – Rewind

Somehow, I missed June’s Polish Pickup…I was traveling and it just slipped my mind. So that’s my excuse for going fucking HAM in July. 10 polishes…FUCK YEAH!

Starting from the top left and going clockwise:

Beaux Rêves Lacquer “Blooming Azalea” ($12) was originally from January 2024 – Deadly Plants. It’s inspired by azaleas and is a magnetic polish. I’m unlikely to magnetize it though.

Atomic Polish “Sour Apple Rings” ($13.50) was from May 2023 – Junk Food. It appears fairly self explanatory.

Cuticula “Never Sleep Again” ($13) was from September 2022 – Scary Vibes. Helloooo Freddy Krueger!

Limitless Top Coat by Cuticula in “Champagne Toast” ($10) was from April 2023 – Flower Power.

Pinnacle Polish “I Made a Promise, Mr. Frodo” ($13) was from October 2022 – Sidekicks. It was inspired by ass-kicking Samwise Gamgee.

By Dany Vianna “Rosewater” ($14) was another from April 2023 – Flower Power. It’s inspired by…rosewater.

Jior Couture “The Tea On The Manatee” ($13.75) was from way back in October 2021 – Monsters & Mythical Creatures. This thermal polish is inspired by the idea that sailors often mistook manatees for mermaids.

Crystal Knockout “25 Fly” ($12.50) was from October 2023 – 90’s Grunge and inspired by Veruca Salt’s “American Thighs” album.

Lilypad Lacquer “You will respect my authoritahhh!” ($14) was from February 2022 – 90’s TV and inspired by Officer Cartman.

Last, but not least…Sweet Heart Polish “You Betta Recognize” ($13) was from February 2024 – Wild Animals and inspired by the red Veiltail Betta fish.

I bet you’ll never guess which one I picked to try first…

Atomic Redrum

I’m baaaaaack…did you miss me?

I was in Arlington last week for a work thingie and then a Girly Getaway in Waco this weekend…and BAM – today hit me like a ton of bricks. Back into the office today, cold as fuck…and then Grad School started again. Thank FUCK this is my last semester. But you’re not here to read about my foul mood or all the bad decisions I’ve made that led me to this point…you just want to hear about the REDDEST and MOST BADDASS red nail polish I’ve ever seen.

That MOST BADASS red nail polish is Atomic Polish “Redrum”. I have so many red nail polishes that it’s gonna take a lot to make me purchase another one. “Redrum” has a lot of…whatever it is that makes me want to buy nail polish. On paper, it sounds boring…a red shimmer polish, that shifts to orange in the light. It’s just so intense!

This is two coats of “Redrum” over Cuticula Mic Drop Base Coat in “Melt Down” and under Cuticula Limitless Top Coat in “Raspberry Pop”. Oh, and it’s inspired by that creepy little kid in The Shining.

Oh, and it matches LaLa’s SUV – it’s the EXACT color…I wish I had remembered to take a picture when I was there.

Polish Pickup December 2023 – Maker’s Choice

Ooohhhh…December is Maker’s Choice, which means that instead of a theme all of the maker’s are asked to follow, they are allowed to offer whatever they want!

I went a little crazy again…here are my choices for December…

I wanted a Cuticula Base Coat to go with the Top Coat I got in October, so I grabbed Cuticula Mic Drop Base Coat in “Melt Down” ($10), which is a wintery peppermint and vanilla cream scented base coat. It’s got more to it than that, but I really couldn’t place it.

I cannot WAIT to try Paradox Polish “We’re All Born Naked, The Rest is Drag” ($13), inspired of course, by RuPaul. It’s a thermal polish!

Beaux Reves Lacquer “No Ordinary Rose” ($12) is a shimmer inspired by The Little Prince. That book sure does come up in pop culture a lot these days, doesn’t it?

Lumen Lacquer “Glass Jellyfish” ($13) is a sister polish to “Glass Frog”. I had passed on “Glass Frog”, so I’m glad I had a chance to grab this one.

Finally, Atomic Polish “Redrum” ($13) was the FIRST polish I added to my basket. Not only because it was near the front alphabetically, but because it is an OUSTANDING orangey red.

I’ve already started using these polishes – I cannot wait to share!
