It’s So Grape

No need to adjust your screen, this polish is more gray than grape.

Sinful Colors “It’s So Grape” is another one of the Confection Crush “Sweet & Sugary” polishes. I mean…it DOES look like a grape gum drop…that rolled under my couch and moldered for a year. I don’t care, it’s still cute!

This is two coats over Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat.

Krushed Velvet

This vibrant matte moment is brought to you by Sinful Colors “Krushed Velvet” from the Kylie Trend Matters Collection. It was buried in a basket of untried polish in my bedroom…I came across it while quarantined.

This is two coats of “Krushed Velvet” over Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat.

This deep burgundy has a hint of gold shimmer that is very apparent when wet, but fades quite a bit after drying. Next time I use this polish, I might try a glossy top coat to bring out that shimmer, or possibly a gold glitter accent nail.

Quarantine Nails

Locked in my room for 10 days…what else was I going to do?

Belle en Argent “What She’s Having” arrived in January’s ipsy bag. I think the name of the polish is referring to THAT scene in When Harry Met Sally. This is two coats of “What She’s Having” over Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat.

I wanted my nails to look fancy, so I made an accent nail with China Glaze “Diamond in the Rough”. I should have topped that finger with Glitter Grabber to smooth over the rough glitter, but I forgot to ask my jailers to slide it under the bedroom door. I topped them with Glisten & Glow Top Coat. All dressed up and nowhere to go.

I did my toes, too! Even though I just got a pedi, the lady didn’t cut my toenails down short enough and they were snagging on my sheets. Don’t you hate that? I cut them down SUPER short.

Royal Cake Pop Nail Party

There’s nothing I like more than a good, ole fashioned Nail Party!

Last weekend (BEFORE I was infected with the ‘rona), I was blessed with a 24 hour visit from close friends. Although Shari is not at all interested in my beauty and nail obsessions, Brittany was more than happy to play with my nail stuff, while Shari taught a ZOOM Sunday School Class. Nails are so much more fun together!

I started off with Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat and two coats of Sinful Colors “Royal Cake Pop”. Going through my nail decals, I came across a small pack of Scratch Accent Nail Wraps in white and gold. (These are old, old, old – from a 2016 Beauty Box 5.) I thought the white and gold with give off a nice “Art Deco” vibe with the chromed silver finish of “Royal Cake Pop”. The white strip on my pinky turned out fantastic, but I was startled to see that the gold strip turned olive green over the silver polish!

I finished up with a coat of Glisten & Glow Top Coat. This manicure felt like it last forever – a full week with just minor edge wear. Thank you Confection Crush Collection!

I’m looking forward to another nail party…someone come play with me! (After quarantine is over, of course!)

Barbie Skin

Sinful Colors “Frosted Sugar Cookie” looks like Barbie skin to me – is that weird? Have I been playing with Barbies too much lately?

This is two coats of “Frosted Sugar Cookie” over Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat. It’s still a semi-sheer matte finish, but there’s an underlying blue shimmer that is very, very faint.

I am really digging Sinful Color’s super large Confection Crush Collection – I cannot decide if I should steamroll through all the shades, or if I should mix it up…

Rosewater Delight

Crackle nail polish can be great…if it is SUPPOSED to crackle. Unfortunately, Sinful Colors “Rosewater Delight” is NOT a crackle polish. “Rosewater Delight” is from the Confection Crush Velvet Matte Collection.

This is two coats of “Rosewater Delight” over Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat. The Grand Canyon on my thumb nail is completely puzzling to me – why did that happen? There are creeks like that on most of my nails…what on earth?

I need to do some research…

Hustle

Welcome to my last mani of 2021!

I was feeling matchy-matchy, so I wanted to match my nails to my new Stitch Fix dress. How fortuitous that the polish from this month’s ipsy bag is a match?

I started with Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat and two coats of Complex Culture “Hustle”. “Hustle” is an orange-leaning red and brilliantly glossy. I wanted a little accent, so I used Nicole by OPI “Pick of the Glitter”, followed by Glitter Grabber on my thumbs and ring fingers. I finished with Glisten & Glow Top Coat, EXCEPT for my pinkies – I wanted to see “Hustle” mattified, so I used Glisten & Glow Matte Top Coat.

I was taking a risk with “Pick of the Glitter” – blue and rose gold glitter on a red polish – but it turned out fantastic. The little bit of blue is really eye-catching.

My Nails and My Living Room

I am OBSESSED with my goth Xmas Tree…it’s a black, artificial tree, decorated with red, black and white ornaments. It’s especially striking against the backdrop of my turquoise living room walls. I took my obsession to the next level by reproducing that color scheme on my nails for Xmas week.

I started with Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat and two coats of Sinful Colors “Fool for Azul” as a proxy for my living room paint. There’s a wee bit more green in my wall paint – “Fool for Azul” is more of a Tiffany blue – but the match was close enough for me. The white snowflake glitter is Funky Fingers “Olaf” and the red glitter is Funky Fingers “Red Ryder”. I topped the glittery fingers with Glisten & Glow Glitter Grabber and then topped them all with Glisten & Glow Top Coat.

I. Love. These. Nails.

I’ll be honest, my husband gave me a big ration of shit for matching my nails to my living room, but I could not care less – they turned out FANTASTIC.

Sugarplum!

Sinful Colors Quick Bliss “Sugarplum Sucker” is a nice lavender and all, but it wasn’t what I was trying to do. Originally, I was planning on doing ALL of my nails with Delush Polish “Sugar Plum Surprise”, after 6 years on the shelf, I could tell that there wasn’t going to be enough in the bottle to do all my nails. Why not do a combo with another sugar plum?

I started with Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat. I did two coats of both “Sugarplum Sucker” and “Sugar Plum Surprise”. I finished with Glisten & Glow Top Coat, but the two glitter nails got a coat of Glisten & Glow Glitter Grabber first.

The Glitter Grabber really made a difference in the finish. It’s hard to compare with my original use of “Sugar Plum Sucker” six years ago. Why didn’t anyone tell me that my phone camera was so crappy? Also, is it “sugarplum” or “sugar plum”? What is a “sugar plum”? WHY is a “Sugar plum”?

Make Way for 2021

I know, I know – no need to “Make Way for 2021” – 2021 is almost over. But I got a freebie bottle of Glisten & Glow “Make Way for 2021” with my Black Friday order, so I figure, why not?

“Make Way for 2021” is a shimmery concrete gray, with just a hint of blue fire. This is two coats of “Make Way for 2021” over Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat and under Glisten & Glow Top Coat.

This is the first polish I’ve tried from Glisten & Glow – it’s REALLY good quality. It’s not streaky and it self levels.
