May Ipsy Bag – Summer Friday

A post shared by Lara (@knobbygirl) on

Ooooooooh! More pink flamingos!

First off, you know I have those same glitter flamingo sunglasses – I bought them at Party City. I’ve never thought about putting them on a pineapple though.

…And then I saw the flamingo on Jelly Pong Pong Supercharged Super Intense Eyeshadow Duo in “Electric” (Yes, I get excited about a random brand of eye shadow just because there is a flamingo on the packaging). Also in this month’s super cute, clear, ice cream-covered bag: Urban Decay Cosmetics Afterglow 8-Hour Highlighter in “Sin” (never tried their highlighters before); Pixi by Petra Endless Silky Eye Pen in “BlackNoir”; Hey Honey Besame Mucho Lip Balm; and Luxie Beauty Luxie Dreamcatcher Precision Foundation Brush 660 (not a big fan of foundation brushes, but I’ll give it a spin).

Ipsy is getting their groove back!

April Ipsy Bag – Sideshow

A post shared by Lara (@knobbygirl) on

I literally SQUEALED when I opened this month’s ipsy bag and saw the Glamour Dolls x Lisa Frank Angle Blush Brush. Who didn’t have EVERYTHING Lisa Frank back in the 80s? So psyched to get a pre-release from this new collection!

Also in this month’s “Sideshow” bag”: H2O+ Beauty Keep It Fresh Cleanser (I am loving getting to try so many new cleansers); Luseta Beauty Volume Reviving Dry Shampoo in “Potpourri”; defy & Inspire Wear Resistant Nail Lacquer in “Paradise Island”; and ColourPop Cosmetics Crème Gel Pencil in “Show Me”vivid true copper (I was assuming this would be blue based on the color of the box, but I was wrong).

Is it me, or are ipsy bags getting WAY better?

March Ipsy Bag – Tres Jolie

A post shared by Lara (@knobbygirl) on

March’s ipsy bag is beautifully color-coordinated – from the pale pink bag with a rose gold zipper to that snail thingy (more on that later) to the nude lippie. And the bag is super-sized – perfect for liners or brushes.

So about that cute little snail…it’s Ladykin Affinitic Snail Cream. It’s literally 80% snail secretions. And I am supposed to put this on my face. For wrinkles. For what it’s worth, I looked it up on Amazon and it had some legit good reviews…so I’ll give it a shot. But…snail slime…on my face.

Also in this month’s “Tres Jolie” bag: Cake Desserted Island Supreme Body Mousse; Elizabeth Mott Blending Brush (the Elizabeth Mott All Over Shadow Brush I received a few years ago is still my favorite lid brush); tarte cosmetics tarteist quick dry matte lip paint in “rosé”; and Doucce Freematic Eyeshadow in “Marisa” (for the record, I HATE the name “Marisa” – my college boyfriend cheated on me with a homely (and possible homeless) skag named Marisa).

Great bag this month! I’ll let you know if the snail trail kills me.

February Ipsy Bag – Much Love

A post shared by Lara (@knobbygirl) on

I’m loving the February Ipsy Bag – “Much Love”, in fact.

Inside this month’s cute little denim bag: Trust Fund Beauty Nail Polish in “$12 Latte” (It’s actually darker than a latte – more like $12 Mocha); NYX Butter Lipstick in “Lifeguard” (Yup, Baywatch red); BellaPierre Cosmetics Volumelash Waterproof Mascara (Ugh, hate waterproof mascara); Hikari Cosmetics Cream Pigment Eye Shadow in “Latte” (Oooooh, another latte – it’s going straight into my Z Palette…speaking of Z Palette, they’re in the middle of a controversy for being assholes on social media – I won’t be buying another one, but I already gave them my money for this one); and BeFine Food Skin Care Gentle Face Cleanser (I’m running low on cleanser samples, so this came at a good time).

Another great bag this month!

Pavement

I wasn’t joking – as soon as I saw this polish, I had to try it.

This is Pretty Woman “I Can’t Deal” from this month’s ipsy bag. It’s a medium grey cream, the color of a freshly poured parking lot – no one’s parked in it yet and there are no oil stains.

I started with Sinful Colors Base Coat and got full coverage in just one coat. I went ahead and did two coats – just to be safe. The polish was super shiny on it’s own, but I finished with “HK Girl” – again, just to be safe. Safe from what – I do not know…but being safe seems really important to me right now.

January Ipsy Bag – Metropolis

A photo posted by Lara (@knobbygirl) on

“Metropolis” is January’s futuristic city theme. Did Superman create this beauty bag for Lois Lane?

The first product that drew my attention was the Pretty Woman Nail Polish in “I Can’t Deal” – it’s a pavement grey cream. So weird – I don’t own any polishes like this at all. Also in this month’s bag: Beaute Basics Contour Blush Brush; Trust Fund Beauty Lipgasm Lipgloss in “Blame Game” (I hope it lives up to it’s name); Naked Cosmetics Mica Pigment in “Desert Sunset #02″ (I got a similar shade in last February’s bag) and Jelly Pong Pong Lip Scrub in “Coffee + Coconut” (looking forward to seeing if this scrub rescues my abused lips).

A very odd bag, but I’ll use most of the items.

December Ipsy Bag – carpe p.m.

A photo posted by Lara (@knobbygirl) on

So does “carpe p.m.” mean “Seize the Night”? Wouldn’t it have been simpler for ipsy to just theme the bag as “Seize the Night”?

This month’s bag is full of juicy finds:a MintPear Beauty Blending Sponge (I am getting quite a collection of these); Benefit Cosmetics The POREfessional Face Primer; mPrincess Mineral Eyeshadow in “Melting Maple”; tarte Cosmetics tartist Glossy Lip Paint in “wcw” (I tried this immediately – I am not used to the glossy look, but the deep vampy shade looked great on me…although it did NOT last through a meal like the lip liquids I’ve been using lately); and Cake Beauty Heavy Cream Intensive Hand Repair Balm.

Oh – and that hot pink crushed velvet bag – CRUSHING it.

November Ipsy Bag – Rock Starlet

A photo posted by Lara (@knobbygirl) on

Ipsy arrived first this month. I was excited to see that fuchsia bubble mailer!

“Rock Starlet” is this month’s theme. I received the gold and navy constellation-print neoprene bag – there was also one with silver print. Jewelry, I am ALL silver…but I tend to go for gold in accessories, like my current phone case.

Inside my “Rock Starlet” bag: Luxie Beauty Rose Gold Small Duo Fiber Brush (this is one of the most unique brushes I’ve ever seen – there’s a thin layer of extra long fibers on the end for a lighter touch – I’m excited to try it with a highlighter); Japonesque Pixelated Finishing Powder (not sure what to do with this – is it a highlighter or for my whole face?); Adesse New York Brightening Base Coat (interested to try it); ELEMIS Pro-Collagen Marine Cream (huh?); and theBalm Cosmetics Mad Lash Mascara.

These are very sophisticated products – I will be cycling ALL of these into my routine soon, except maybe the mascara.

October Ipsy Bag – Black Magic

A photo posted by Lara (@knobbygirl) on

This month’s ipsy bag is full of “Black Magic”!

I’m IN LOVE with the bag, designed by Valfre. Look at the cute little witches and ghosts and lipsticks and candy corn and black cats and…so cute!

I’m also in love with the stuff in my bag: 2 patchology Flashpatch 5 Minute Hydrogels; theBalm Hot Mama! Shadow/Blush (looks like a dupe of NARS “Orgasm”); Beaute Basics eye Shadow in “Satin Taupe”; ModelCo Instant Brows Brow Pencil in “Light/Medium” (Probably WAY too light for me); and essence Superfine Waterproof Eyeliner Pen (this shit is like a sharpie – I tested it on my wrist and I couldn’t get it off, even with soap and water).

September Ipsy Bag – Glamazon

A photo posted by Lara (@knobbygirl) on

I am LOVING this month’s ipsy bag – top notch products that I will actually use!

The theme is “Glamazon” – too glam to give a damn. Yes, these products are glam to the extreme: Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme (Ooooooh it tingles like Lip Venom – it’s the capiscum AKA the same shit in pepper spray; I just put it on and my husband noticed a difference within 60 seconds…arghhhhhh, it BURNS); Eau Thermale Avène Hydrance Optimale Hydrating Serum; Dr. G Daily Safe BB in “Fair” (So many “Dr.” products these days); Living Proof Perfect hair Day (PhD) 5-in-1 Styling Treatment (I’ve loved the other products I’ve tried); and Dirty Little Secrets Cosmetics Eyeshadow in “Teaser” (orangey tan).

Oh, and did you see that the girls on the bag are YMCAing “ipsy”? So clever.
