Joss

Can you believe that I still have at least a dozen Julep polishes that I haven’t tried yet?

Julep “Joss” is a ripe fig duochrome and has been chilling in the pile for over five years! It’s mostly dark purple, but there’s that little hint of green. Can you see it?

This is two coats of “Joss” over Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat and under Glisten & Glow Top Coat. My top coat is getting thick and goopy – I need to order a new one!

I’m going to have to assume that this polish is named for Joss Stone, who had that one song, and NOT that douche Joss Whedon.

October 2021 Ipsy Bag – Pretty Wicked

I am in LOVE with this month’s ipsy bag. I like the contents, but I LOVE this bag. The vampy lips are like WHOA.

My product choice this month was Sugar Cosmetics Tipsy Lips Moisturizing Balm in “Mojito”. Yes, I am still on the lip balm kick.

Also in this month’s pretty wicked bag: Basic Beauty Hot Cocoa Bomb Eyeshadow Quad (I am amassing quite a collection of tiny eyeshadows); Chasin’ Rabbits Mindful Bubble Cleanse (It’s quite odd to foam up this face wash in my hands before using it); Murad Retinol Youth Renewal Night Cream; and Uoma by Sharon C Badder Boom Au Naturel Volumizing Mascara.

All in all, a nice selection of products this month!

I subscribe to the basic ipsy bag for $12/month and Glam Bag X for an extra $43/quarterly. Oh wait, I just saw on the site that the price went up to $13 in October – I’d better check my credit card statement! If you’d like to try Ipsy –  click here. I’ll earn 250 points if you sign up through my referral link.

Lil Beast

Sinful Colors “Lil Beast” is another polish from Saweetie’s Xtraterrestial Effects Collection. It’s a mossy green textured finish, a bit more metallic than the others.

This is two coats over Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat and no top coat.

This polish is almost IDENTICAL to the St. Ives Blackhead Clearing Green Tea Scrub that I use. I was washing my face in the shower, looked down and was like, “Heyyyyyy…” The name though, reminds me of Beast Boy!

Magic Hour

OPI “Magic Hour” is the REAL DEAL.

I don’t have a lot of OPI polishes – I got this one as a “gift with purchase” – but the ones I do have, I really like. “Magic Hour” has a unique shimmery finish, evoking the wavy golden light from just before sunset. I never would’ve picked it on my own, but I’ll be searching for shimmery OPI polishes like this.

This is two coats of “Magic Hour” over Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat and under Glisten & Glow Top Coat.

Pebbles Haul

A Makeup Revolution (or is it Revolution Makeup) collaboration with Fruity Pebbles AND Cocoa Pebbles? You son of a bitch, I’m in!

The I ❤ Revolution x Fruity Pebbles Palette ($22) is a bright palette, a Fruity Pebbles rainbow of colors. I’ve only used it once, but looking forward to figuring out how to make the colors work together. The I ❤ Revolution x Cocoa Pebbles Palette ($22) is a lot more versatile – I’ve used the warm shades several times now. The shadow quality is so smooth and blendable – I love them.

I picked the I ❤ Revolution x Fruity Pebbles Lip Oil in “Fred” ($8) – this stuff is great for removing liquid lipstick. I also picked up both the Fruity Pebbles AND the Cocoa Pebbles Body Butter ($10 each). My husband’s FAVORITE cereal is Fruity Pebbles, so I thought slathering the body butter all over myself before bed would drive him wild. Eh, not so much – The Fruity Pebbles scent is very vague. The Cocoa Pebbles Body Butter, on the other hand, is VERY heavily scented. According to my husband, it smells like chocolate ass. This may be my “not tonight, honey” body butter.

I didn’t buy the WHOLE collection, but close…There were also headbands (the Pebbles one with a bone sold out before I could grab it) and makeup bags, but I controlled myself a little…The only bummer is that I paid FULL PRICE when I ordered a few weeks ago, and now they’re half off…run – don’t walk to get this collection!

The rest of my order was a bunch of odds and ends. The wet n wild Coloricon Zodiac Lip Gloss in “Pisces” ($2.09) was for my daughter. The Punky Color Bleach ($9.99) – one of my kids will buy it off me. The Freeman Oil Absorbing Mint & Lemon Facial Clay Mask ($3, on sale from $4.29) and Ulta Pink Grapefruit Scented Foaming Hand Wash ($3.50, on sale from $7) are for me.

My purchase qualified me for TWO gifts with purchase. The free 15 piece gift with $65 purchase included Skinkick Daily Exfoliant Cleanser (new brand to me); L’Oreal Voluminous Primer/Base (I keep getting samples of this and NOT using it); Good Molecules Hyaluronic Acid Serum (1 oz – full sizer!); eva nyc Therapy Session Hair (I got this in a VOX BOX years ago – looking forward to using it again); The Body Shop Avocado Body Butter; Covergirl Creamy Eye Shadow Stick in “Dreamy Haze”; Ahava Deadsea Water Mineral Hand Cream; Maybelline Total Temptation Mascara in “Very Black”; Soap & Glory Fruit Force Refreshing Body Wash; Milani Make It Last Dewy Setting Spray; NYX Bare With Me Hydrating Jelly Primer; Love Wellness Call Me Collagen Dietary Supplement (EW); Hempz CBD Moisture Hit Ultra-Hydrating Shampoo (but no matching conditioner!); Derma E Thickening Shampoo (again, no matching conditioner – RUDE); and EcoTools Makeup Brush + Sponge Shampoo (looking forward to trying this out for sponges). I also got a free Step Up 5 piece gift with my $85 purchase: Kneipp Mineral Bath Salt in Dream Away (giving to the kids); Revlon Colorstay Satin Ink (it’s in red cellophane – I’m afraid to open it); Pyt Beauty Upcycle Eyeshadow in “Warm Lit Nude Mini”; Beast Gold Roll-On Oil (this .35oz bottle is $39 at Ulta! I think it’s for dudes); and noyah Organic Vanilla Lip Balm. I have so many samples now!

I am just $240 away from Diamond in 2022.

Zoomer & Zorbit

I was resisting buying any of the Orly x Lisa Frank Nail Wraps ($11.99 at Ulta)…until I saw how cute they looked on my friend, Angie. Angie is my biggest nail influencer!

To my credit, I only bought one of the four designs – “Zoomer & Zorbit” – a duo of freaky aliens. I’ve always had a thing for “little green men”.

This is my first time trying Orly Nail Wraps. The wraps are a bit short, so I can definitely only cover one nail per wrap. They filed down well though and didn’t leave a jagged edge. The wraps did not peel up either – they stayed put for a week! I will mention though – these wraps have a clear layer on top that may lift up. This clear layer peeled off of several nails and afterwards, the design faded off. So don’t be tempted to peel off the clear protective layer!

The strips are pricy, but have great staying power and apply very well. Here’s to hoping they go on sale!

Big Mamaz Ship

I jumped right in to try one of my new Xtraterrestrial Effects polishes. This is Sinful Colors “Big Mamaz Ship”.

This is two coats of “Big Mamaz Ship” over Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat. I wanted to see the texture, so I did not use a top coat. The polish is more matte than I expected – like a dusty planet?

This polished reminds me of the old China Glaze Crinkled Chrome Collection. These polishes where more chromed (duh) than the matte Xtraterrestrial polishes.

Xtraterrestrial Effects

Oh, no biggie…but I found the ENTIRE Sinful Colors “Xtraterrestrial Effects” Halloween Collection by Saweetie at my Walmart. I absolutely bought them all, plus an extra set for a nail friend.

The pink one is “Big Mamaz Ship”, the blue one is “Icy Monstar”, the clay colored one is “Baelien”, and the green one is “Lil Beast”. They were $1.98 each. The collection also includes these alien nail decals ($2.98). I didn’t keep these, I had purchased them for my friend.

Time to get freaky with these textured polishes.
