Holidaze

I received Color Street “Holidaze” as a freebie with my last order…I couldn’t wait to get some glitter on my nails.

I love they way these look, but my application was a bit sketchy. Let me tell you where I fucked up…instead of using my crystal glass file, I was lazy and just used the tiny file in the Color Street package. Big mistake! It left the edges all raggedy and didn’t look as good as the last few times.

I think I’d like to mix “Holidaze” with “Zoomer & Zorbit” – that would look great!

Lacey Business

Why yes, this is my 4th nail polish post in a row…and the next one will be the fifth. I just haven’t been shopping as much lately. I need to be more depressed, I guess.

This is Color Street “Lacey Business”, one of the new sets I just received. I absolutely LOVE this set – it matches everything! My nails are super long right now, so this was a rather expensive mani – I had to use whole strips on each nail, except for my pinkies.

This set lasted over a week!

Hiss and Make Up

Thanks to a one-on-one training session from my sister-in-law Becca, I am now an expert at apply Color Street Nail Strips.

First off, I learned that I was putting the strips on upside down – d’oh! No wonder my Flamingos were upside down! The other big difference was letting the strips cure. I was trying to file those suckers down immediately…but they need 20 minutes or so to cure before filing. This was the biggest difference in my application – I just needed a little patience.

This set is called “Hiss and Make Up”. I want to try reproducing it with a holographic polish and one of my crackle top coats.

When applied correctly, these strips DO last a very long time – I wore these for 10 whole days and they would’ve lasted longer, if not for my nail growth.

I’ve collected quite a collection of nail strips over the years – not just Color Street and Jamberry, but all kinds of brands. I’m going to start using them more, now that I’m an expert.

Flamingoals

A few months ago, I bought several more sets of Color Street Nail Polish Strips. I was planning to use these strips as a long lasting vacation mani – I *thought* I was going on a little extended weekend vacation to New Orleans last week, but COVID-19 kicked our plans in the ass. Oh well, I did my nails anyway.

This is Color Street “Flamingoals”. I am still kind of terrible at applying these – I keep wrinkling the tips. And why is the Flamingo upside-down??? I don’t care, I have Flamingo nails!

The Roaring 20s

The 20s aren’t roaring yet…but I still have hope.

My sister-in-law was in town a few weeks ago and I picked up a few full sheets of Color Street Nail Decals. There were some really cool sets! My favorite is “Drop the Ball” – black and gold chevrons – very 20s Art Deco.

I wanted to mix polish and decals, so I applied the decals to 6 of my fingers – I was able to cover two fingers per decal, by using a thumb size on my thumb and sideways on my pinky (thanks for the idea, Becca). My middle fingernails are always pretty short, so it was easy to cover two nails with one medium decal. These decals lasted a week and looked perfect! The nail polish chipped before the decals.

For the polish, I couldn’t decide on shimmer or glitter, so why not both? The glitter on my index finger is Butter London “Tart with a Heart” and the shimmer on my ring finger is Nicole by OPI “On a Gilt Trip”. This is two coats of each over Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat. I wanted them to be matte to match the Color Street, so I topped with Glisten & Glow Matte Top Coat.

Instead of holding a bottle of polish, I decided to showcase a member of my daughter’s Octopi Army – she made it herself!

Harvest Blooms

So one of my sisters-in-law sells Color Street Nail Strips and she sent some Thanksgiving strips – “Harvest Blooms” – for me to try. My only experience with nail strips are Jamberry, and these are quite different.

While Jamberry strips are like thick vinyl stickers, Color Street are much thinner and more flexible…and more fragile. I managed to tear a few of them trying to apply them. They don’t require a heater though, which is nice.

I must have strangely shaped fingernails, but the strips didn’t really fit my nails well – do I have huge fingers? The largest strips (toe size?) barely covered my thumbs, but the next size down didn’t cover any of my nails very well. Also, my nails are fairly long right now, so the only nails that I could use one strip on two nails was my pinky – the rest were too short. I wouldn’t get two full uses out of 16 pack, which makes them less than economical for me to use – although they are VERY pretty!

Color Street Nail Strips Retail for $13 for a set of 16 double-ended strips, comparable to Jamberry…I think? I don’t recall what I paid for Jamberry years and years ago.
