Smash Hit

Sinful Colors “Smash Hit” has been sitting in my living room nail cabinet, waiting its turn to be used, since the end on 2018. I’ve been trying to work my way through them, but there at least a couple dozen still in there, as well as a couple dozen in my bedroom.

I was feeling like something cold and icy, so I decided on this icy, sheer blue. This is two coats of “Smash Hit” over Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat and under Glisten & Glow Matte Top Coat. The glitter is iridescent dots, with a few flakie shards thrown in for interest.

This polish reminds me of “Wrapped in Plastic”. It also reminds me of Bumble, from Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

Goodbye 2020!

Although I’m not feeling very festive, my nails sure are…

After Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat, I started with two coats of Color Club “Get Lost”, from this month’s ipsy bag. It was more streaky than I would like, but I made it work.

My friend Brittany inspired me with just a touch of glitter on my nails, no one has time to scrape of individual pieces of glitter with a butter knife…I used a recent Walmart clearance find – Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear “Confetti Craze”. It’s very similar to Sinful Colors “Pride”, so I guess I didn’t need it…but it was only $1.

I did get a proper matte moment with Glisten & Glow Matte Top Coat. I opened a new bottle and it was oh, so nice.

Goodbye 2020, don’t let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya…

Santa Claws

I decided that my nail stains (thanks “Sour Apple Killer”) had grown out enough to try to attempt a sheer glitter polish, so I decided on Sinful Colors “Santa Claws” for my official Xmas manicure. There’s a slight rose gold cast to the base, so it hid the stains somewhat.

This is two coats of “Santa Claws” over Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat and under Sinful Colors Radical Matte Top Coat.

I’ve been obsessed with matte nails the past several months, and let me just say it…I am VERY disappointed in Sinful Colors Radical Matte Top Coat. It is neither radical, nor very matte at all. I’ll be going back to my trusty Glisten & Glow Matte Top Coat – it’s the best I’ve used, so far.

Le Tits Now!

Why “let it snow” when you can “le tits now”?

I occurs to me that the blue I used – Sinful Colors “Zzzapped!” – is pretty close to Jeopardy Blue. What a happy accident…thinking a lot about losing Alex Trebek (and Sean Connery, too I guess) this year.

This is two coats of “Zzzapped!” over Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat. For a the snowy nails, I used Funky Fingers “Elsa”. I guess I am still stuck on matte nails – I topped them all with Glisten & Glow Matte Top Coat.

Twisted Toffee

In my experience, toffee isn’t quite this orange…but I’ll allow it.

Sinful Colors “Twisted Toffee” is the other new Halloween “Candy-Inspired Spooky Polish”. It seems more caramel-y than toffee, but I’ll eat either.

Like its sister “Sour Apple Killer”, “Twisted Toffee” has an abundance of glitter – no fishing!

This is three coats of “Twisted Toffee” over Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat and under Glisten & Glow Top Coat.

Mrs. Mucus

Doesn’t the base of this polish remind you of Mrs. Mucus? That rude bitch who lives inside of your nose…

I wasn’t planning on getting this year’s Halloween collection…but…there it was in Walmart, just begging to go home with me. This is Sinful Colors “Sour Apple Killer”, a “candy-inspired” polish. I admit, it does quite look like a melted Jolly Rancher, even down to the little air bubbles.

Remember the ant-spider-baby-skulls? They’re back! And it appears that either the polish is a new and improved formula OR they put a fuck-ton more glitters into the bottle. Either way, I had no problem fishing them out of the bottle.

This is three coats of “Sour Apple Killer” over Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat and under Glisten & Glow Top Coat.

Macaroni in a Pot

Macaroni in a pot…that’s some wet ass polish.

I’m sorry, I couldn’t resist. Please forgive me.

This nail that is so reminiscent of the neon orange cheese powder in a box of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese, is Sinful Colors Quick Bliss “Hit the Spot”. I was expecting to hate this on my nails, but it actually looked really nice. It was so bright, I kept surprising myself, doing double takes whenever I’d catch sight of them walking by the bathroom mirror.

This is two coats of “Hit the Spot” over Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat and under Glisten & Glow Top Coat.

I bet this would look even more like Macaroni & Cheese powder with a matte top coat…hmmmm…

Energetic Snake

Fresh off “Witchy Snake”, I couldn’t wait to try the other Bebe Rexha Snake-like Top Coat. Check out Sinful Colors “SSS Sparkle”.

I wanted a bright primary color that would pop against the gold, so I started with a single coat of Sinful Colors “Energetic Red” over Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Top Coat. I then topped all of my fingers, except the ring fingers, with “SSS Sparkle”. I finished the job with Glisten & Glow Top Coat.

I wasn’t expecting the glitter crackle to dissipate so much – it crackles, but also shrank onto the nail, leaving bigger crackles than her black sister.

I really liked the orange leaning “Energetic Red” – it’s still on my toes!

Witchy Snake

I found them! I found the new Bebe Rexha “snake-like top coats” at HEB. Girl, you cannot fool me, those are crackle top coats!

Surprisingly, I don’t own a black crackle, so I was happy to get a pure black crackle in Sinful Colors “Snake it Happen”. (I do have a black with silver glitter, but that DOES NOT COUNT.) There’s also a gold glitter, which you’ll get to see soon.

I finished off my bottle of Glisten & Glow Base Coat and threw away the bottle. It was okay, but I much prefer the Ridge Filling version. I started with one coat of Sinful Colors “Witch’s Brew”, a neon green. I should’ve done more than one coat, because as soon as “Snake it Happen” hit it, the green almost disappeared! Why??? Even though the green nearly disappeared, “Snake it Happen” crackled beautifully.

I finished with Glisten & Glow Top Coat, except for Sinful Colors Radical Matte Top Coat on my ring finger. The main difference is that the matte top coat is snug to the polish and leaves ridges you can feel, whereas the glossy coat is super smooth.

Sinful Station

Is there is a Dollar Tree in the same parking lot as the Honky Bucket I’m eating lunch at, I’m gonna find an excuse to drop in and search for Sinful Colors, even if it’s all the way in College Station.

This particular location had a decent selection of Sinful Colors…except for the fact that almost all of the packages contained “Energetic Red”. I picked a package that paired “Energetic Red” with SinfulShine “Guilty Pleasures”.

I also found a package with rather new polishes – “Witch’s Brew” from last Halloween’s Bebe Rexha “Wicked Neons” collaboration. It’s a blacklight reactive neon green. The package also had the Radical Matte Top Coat. I already have several matte top coats, but what’s one more?
