Jafar

Nailtopia “Jafar” is another polish from the Disney 100th Anniversary Collection, except it’s a special “Villains” collection. It’s a shiny, tomato red…just GORGEOUS.

This is two coats of “Jafar” over Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat and under Glisten & Glow Top Coat.

While LaLa and I were at Ulta, she was looking for this polish. She had seen it at her Ulta in Lufkin, but the bottle was broken or something, so she didn’t get it. My Ulta didn’t have it and it had already been removed from the website – oh no – but I found it on Amazon for $8.99, which is better than Ulta’s $10 anyway. And YES, I made sure it was okay that I sampled the polish I was giving her.

Essenchills + Tulle Temptations

If there’s one thing that 2021 has going for it, it’s TWO new collections from Sinful Colors!

The Essenchills Collection is another scented collection, inspired by the scents of a spa day. There are 9 polishes in the collection: “So Matcha Better” (Matcha Tea), “Chamomile Calm” (Chamomile), “Bath Goals” (a Milky Bath), “Coffee Drip” (Coffee), “Salt Bath Babe” (Himalayan Salt), “Beach Vibes” (Ocean Breeze), “Smoky Palo Santo” (Palo Santo), “Low-Key Lavender” (Lavender), and “Eucalyptahhh” (Eucalyptus).

The Tulle Temptations Collection is made of sheer matte polishes with a shimmer. There’s a Semi-Matte Top Coat and 8 polishes: “Sheer-Treuse” (lime green), “Turnt-quoise” (turquoise), “Veiled in Violet” (purple), “Kiss of Cobalt” (blue), “Hot Pink Tights” (pink), “Hot & Hazy” (coral), “See-Through Citrine” (yellow), and “Ruby Tutu” (red).

I was a bit impatient, so I went ahead and ordered six packs of each collection on Amazon…but since each collection is 9 polishes, I knew I would still be on the hunt. Before I even got the Amazon deliveries, BOTH collections showed up at HEB, with the Sheer Matte Tulle Temptations at $1.98 each and the Essenchills at $2.98 each, which is opposite of their Amazon pricing. I filled out my collection, as well as getting duplicate sets to send to a few friends. Like last year’s collection, each collection had Wal-mart exclusive colors, which I managed to find a few days after the others.

Which one will I try first…hmmmmm…

Haus of Rose B*tch

So…Prime Day was sooooo long ago – July 15th – and I might have forgotten that I pre-ordered some of Lady Gaga’s new makeup until I got the shipping notification.

Haus Laboratories launched via Amazon and initially included 6 Collections, each of which with Glam Attack All-Over Liquid Shimmer Powder (eye shadow), Le Riot Lip Gloss, and RIP Lip Liner in a reusable clutch. Out of the 6 Collections, I chose “Haus of Rose B*tch”, which includes Glam Attack in “Rose B*tch” (a soft mauve shimmer), Le Riot in “Entranced” (a sheer pink pearl), and RIP Lip Liner in “Drag” (a medium plum).

I’ve been using the products for the past week and I really love them. I will admit, I made a little boo-boo the first day I tried them out. I wasn’t paying attention and I ended up putting the lip gloss all over my eyelids. I started to get suspicious that it was making my eyelids stick when I blinked, so I looked more closely at the packaging…goddamnit! I cleaned it off and started over – I had a much better experience using the eye shadow on my eyes. I also used it as a highlighter, blending it into my cheekbone.

My favorite part is the RIP Lip Liner in “Drag” – it is the perfect color for me. I admit though, I feel a bit 1999 wearing dark lip liner, with a shimmer gloss. I tried it with a matte lipstick (Jeffree’s “Celebrity Skin”) and I liked it much better.

$49 is a decent price for a match set of eyeshadow, lip liner and lip gloss…but I don’t know if I will be buying any more of the collections. Luckily, there is not the option to buy individual products! I’m also waiting to see what other products launch, in addition to the new super thin eye liner and eye makeup decals that just dropped.

The Pride Collection

I swear, I ordered the new Sinful Colors Pride Collection back at the beginning of April, but the demand was so high that it took over a month to fulfill my order. I can understand why – this collection is BEAUTIFUL. It’s so much better than the first Pride Collection, because GLITTER!

There are six bold, glittery Sinful Colors polishes: “Tainted Love” (red), “Tight Squeeze” (orange), “Natural Blonde” (yellow), “Filthy Rich” (green), “Love is Love” (blue), and “Drag Queen” (dark purple). Guess which one I tried first…

It was just $11.94 for 6 polishes AND the Grind & Glow Rainbow Shimmer Powder. I haven’t had a chance to try the highlighter yet – soon. Unfortunately, the price has ballooned to $16.35 at this exact moment, but you know how them Amazon prices do…

The Neon Collection

Oh guess what!

Sinful Colors is selling full collections of their polishes directly on Amazon (affiliate link below). What the hell – the price is $16.09 now…but I paid $17.76. Fucking Amazon and their ridiculous pricing algorithms.

This new Neon Collection is bright as hell and has some shimmer. It includes six polishes: “Popped” (a watermelon-esque reddish pink), “Juiced” (reminds me of mango juice), “Extra AF” (hot ass yellow), “Lit-Terally” (greener than Kermit’s ass), “Zzzapped” (so blue), and “Hella Bright” (planetary purple).

I cannot wait to see what application is like…

Amazon Beauty Box – May 2016

/

Amazon is going all out, putting itself into the Beauty Box game. First the Luxury Box and now this box…

This box was a bit more – $9.99 – and has drugstore brands…BUT…instead of giving me $10 off $50 like the last box, this box automatically put a $9.99 credit into my account. Of course, I can only use it on beauty products, but it will be much easier to use.

Inside the Amazon Beauty Box: L’Oreal Voluminous Mascara in “Black”; Garnier Whole Blends Repairing Shampoo & Conditioner in “Honey Treasures”; Fekkai Brilliant Glossing Shampoo & Conditioner (I haven’t tried this before, but I love the other Fekkai samples I’ve received in the past); L’Oreal Brow Stylist Sculptor in “Brunette” (Interesting); L’Oreal True Match Lumi Cushion Foundation in “Nude Beige”; Black 15in1 Miracle Hair Treatment; and Mineral Fusion Lengthening Mascara in “Graphite”.

Lots of L’Oreal to try, but some other good stuff, too. Thanks, Amazon!

Amazon Luxury Beauty – Spring 2016

/

So now Amazon is getting in on the beauty box game. They offered this luxury beauty box for FREE with a qualifying luxury purchase…or $8.99 by itself. I opted to just pay for the box.

I have never heard of most of these brands, but there are a few gems inside the box. Let’s see what I got…L’Occitane Almond Milk Concentrate Body Cream; Sabon Body Lotion in “Delicate Jasmine” (yummy); Ahava Deadsea Water Mineral Hand Cream; Toppik Hair Fattener (odd); bliss Foot Patrol; La Roche-Posay Anthelios 60 Ultra Light Sunscreen Fluid; Julep It Girl “Carla” ( I don’t have this one!); Juicy Couture Malibu; Nuxe Merveillance Regenerating Night Cream; Vichy Idealia Life Serum; Lierac Mesolift Serum; Vincent Longo Sweet Melody Trio Eyeshadow (I fail to see how these colors would look good on the eye – matte violet, baby pink and mint green…uh, NO.); Shaveworks The Cool Fix (for ingrowns and razor burn – yes please); Marvis Cinnamon Mint Toothpaste; Calvin Klein Euphoria; and Catherine Malandrino Romeance de Provence.

Something in the box smells like patchouli, but I haven’t figured out what it is yet…

There was also a coupon for $10 off a $50 luxury beauty purchase…I may have to browse…

Amazon New Beauty

/

Like the rest of the planet, I was fairly disappointed by Amazon’s “Prime Day” promotion on July 15th. I was, however, able to take advantage of Amazon’s New Beauty Promotion – 35% off one item from a VERY small selection of items.

I was hoping to find a good FULL set of brushes, but I was skeptical of the quality of the two they had in the promotion – e.l.f. and Shani (e.l.f. is so-so, but Shani looks super sketchy). Instead, I chose the real Techniques Travel Essentials 3 Brush Set. I’ll probably chunk the case/stand, but you can’t beat $7.27 for 3 high quality make-up brushes!

Watch Out, I’m About to Try Nail Art

/

A few days ago, I got a mysterious envelope in the mail. Except for my name and address, everything on the envelope was in Chinese. I was so stinking confused – I wasn’t expecting anything from China. I used to occasionally receive DVDs in the mail when I was more active on Knobbyverse, but it didn’t feel like a DVD. What could it be???

Oh yeah…I had forgotten that I had ordered a cheap ass nail art kit from Amazon several weeks before. It was $4.32 and had free shipping. My husband wanted the brushes for Halloween makeup, but we ended up using different brushes. There are also dotting tools and nail striping tape.

It may be a few weeks before I work up the gumption to try out my new tools, but I wanted to at least warn you that nail art is coming…

Zoya Threedom

/

I tried to time it so that my mailbox didn’t fill up while I was gone on vacation. In addition to the Ballasox I ordered from Amazon (I want Tieks, but I don’t want to pay for them), my Zoya Threedom order was waiting for me! Finally!

Over 4th of July Weekend, Zoya was offering any 3 polishes for FREE, with $12 shipping. An odd promotion, but a smoking deal. I picked 2 Pixie Dusts and a Magical Pixie Dust – $30 value.

I chose “Godiva” – a soft nude with a sugared sparkle, “Chyna” – a red dazzle with a sugared sparkle and “Bar”a glittery nude topaz. I know – what’s with all the nudes? I couldn’t help it, they look like sugary deliciousness…
